Has anyone tried charging with one of the larger iPod video bricks instead of the little one that the phone came with? It looks like its higher Amp and will push the battery to full without my having to turn the wifi off.

Auto-Brightness On or Off?
I set mine screen on half brightness. I would have thought that autobrightness would hit it harder because the cpu has to process what the lightsensor reads. I do notice that when set at half, when I turn auto off the screen gets brighter. I can solve this by just lowering my brightness setting, but doesn't constantly adjusting the screen via the sensors drain the battery more than just choosing a lower manual brightness

Surfing via edge or Surfing via WiFi?
Does auto-join mean its constantly searching? I would have thought that setting only applied to hitting the first network. I thought once you were on a wifi network it stopped searching unless you went into settings to choose another. As anal as Apple was with battery life, I can't imagine thay'd allow a hit like that.

Good questions.

I have been told on here that Wifi eats up the battery (I think, maybe I am getting mixed up though) so I turn it off when I am not at the office AND need something major.

Auto brightness won't consume many CPU cycles, so just keep it on to save battery. From my findings, keeping wifi off, and just using EDGE seems to greatly improve battery life.

I use an iPod Photo charger with the firewire connector to charge my iPhone with no problems.

To me EDGE seems to eat the battery faster than WIFI but that could be being caused by the auto-join feature looking for wifi points.
