I found the calendar app which came with iOS 9 a bit unintuitive to use and the GUI is not so cute nor colorful. Is there a better calendar app that is better than the stock one?

There are quite a few choices like Fantastical, Calendars, Week Cal, PocketLife, and many others.

"Best" is incredibly subjective.

I've been using Fantastical since it came out. Now Fantastical 2 is even better. IMO, it's the best. But, because it's subjective, YMMV.

Do these apps sync with the default Calendar app for OS X EI Capitan well?
If it's basically an iCloud calendar, then most of those apps support iCloud calendars (along with various other ones like Google Calendar, etc.).

Google Calendar is nice, but for me lacks one important feature which is a widget.

For me Week Calendar (WeekCal BV). Very nice interface, has a lot of functionality and has many views. Also very customizable.

But as has been said, this is subjective

I use Fantastical on my iPhone, but mainly for the calendar widget. On my iPad, I find the stock calendars app is actually quite useable. I have fantastical for iPad as well, but just find it a very confusing mess.

I use Fantastical and the stock calendar interchangeably. I've also purchased it for my Mac computers. But realistically, I could get away with only the stock app if I had to. Calendars 5, which I also own, is a good runner up.

Can you run Fantastical iPhone app on iPad?
It's a good app, but $15 for both versions is a lot for a calendar app and the Mac version is ~$40, that's ujust too much.

There's an iPad version of Fantastical 2... and you can also run the iPhone version in 2x mode.

How? You just sync iPhone app to iPad? In iTunes when I connect iPhone, it doesn't even show iPad apps to sync.. haven't tried it the other way. and does it work for any other app?

Just download it from the App Store on your iPad. To go App Store > Purchased (tab) > Not On This iPad (tab) and change the selection from iPad Apps to iPhone Apps. Scroll down to find it, install it and Bob's your uncle.

Can you do t he other way around - install iPad app on iPhone? ... there are some nice sketching, painting and musical instrument apps only on iPad.
