Hi, on the Apple online store website, there is a Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter and also a Thunderbolt Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. Which is better? Is there a even better 3rd party adapter?

I have a tendency to collect dongles. I surprisingly don't have a Belkin USB-C one.

I have had issues with third party Ethernet dongles. (Again, no Belkin specific experience.) Things like this tend to happen at the most inopportune time, so my current go to is an Apple one. My recollection (at work currently) is that use two apple dongles for the Ethernet connection.

My objective in writing this is to plant the seed if something goes flaky with your Ethernet connection, make sure you have the latest dongle drivers. I certainly hope this never happens to you, and by me writing this it most likely won't. It's just not something you think about during the troubleshooting of an Ethernet connection -- or at least I didn't for several hours!

I considered Anker's as it got nice looking LEDs to show the status. However, after reading some review, ended up going for Apple to have a peace of mind.

Apple chat agent recommended me to get the Apple one over the Belkin one for my MBP 16" 2019. When it arrived, I found that the plug does not fit the MBP 16". Contacted them and the guy said that his colleague must have made a mistake as they are not compatible with each other. Then, he suggested me to get the Belkin one!

Do you get full speed with your Monoprice USB C ethernet adapter?

just a thought... why not get a portable hub that will add a few more things, while you're at it? if you're using a dongle for ethernet, you might as well have it also, for example, read usb-a or sd cards.
