As much as I liked the iOS 7 redesign,iOS 6 remains my favorite. It was quite polished. While there may have been a few issues, it still had the smoothest experience compared to future iterations.

iOS 6. Easily the smoothest, fastest, and most stable iOS version I've used to date. Had good battery life too...got 7-8 hours usage on my iPhone 5back in the day. It's a shame we can't use it anymore.

iOS 7. The redesign video narrated by Jony really left an impression.

iOS 6 has little function. The current is always the best.

Dont know but iOS 8 is running pretty great on my iPhone 6 although there's a bunch of crap I hate about it.

- Useless apps (Newsstand, Game Center, Tips, Apple Watch)

- Apple Music sucks

- Double clicking home button for multitasking is stupid

- Double tapping home button for the bring everything down view is stupid

- Settings is too bloated now

- iCloud still is depressing

- Siri pales in comparison to Cortana

Haven't used iOS 9 on my phone so will hold off making judgements about it. However, my favourite iOS is probably iOS 7 in terms of how it ran and the new things it brought. Still think it was much smoother on my iPhone 5 than iOS 8 ever has been on my 6 Plus.

iOS 6.1.3 was by far my favourite iOS ever, it was fast, smooth, very few bugs and ran great on under powered devices like the iphone 4 or the ipad 3.

while i long to be able to return my a5 powered devices to ios6, as that was the last os that ran *well*, i'd probably say my favourite was ios5. ran great and i recall it added a bunch of great features: iMessage, siri, notifications, reminders, photo stream. iOS6 was more about purging google than adding much.

I'm torn between iOS 6 and 9(no joke intended). I really loved how polished and complete 6 was, and I really was liking iCloud integration and the slight de-skeumorphisim of iOS. But 9 again is finally polished, since 7 and 8 never really felt right for me. I guess its those multiples of threes that always stand out. I have to go with 9 because it brings so many features that 6 didn't have.

newer is not always better

at least not for everyone

i prefer a slightly more simple ios which works perfectly and has no performance issues, bugs, lag etc to a pretty ios with lots of features many of which do contain what i stated above

i guess if someone is just a starbucks/facebook user though then they dont mind having some issues as long as they have the latest thing to show off

iOS 9 - never had any major issues with any version and always appreciated the additions with each iteration.

iOS 6 ran buttery smooth on my iPod touch 5th generation. I also preferred its design. However any software gets outdated after a while, so iOS 6 would be really obsolete by today's standards.

I'd say iOS 8 is my favorite iOS so far, mainly based on the fact that it's incredibly smooth and relatively stable on my iPhone 5s. It also offers lots of useful features over iOS 6. Battery life is also pretty good. Will see what iOS 9 has to offer.

iOS 6 was at the time the least inspiring iOS to me, but funny enough it is today what I would call my favourite overall

It was fast, stable, brought some great new features (at the time, I thought turn by turn navigation was worth it alone...once I came around to it) and overall was such a solid OS.

I liked features brought on by older iOS versions such as iOS 5 with the notification centre, weather widget, iMessages, among other things - and iOS 7 bringing a new design and control centre (which was sorely needed at the time but in hindsight probably does not hold up as well as the older "classic and mature" design), and iOS 8 which is my least favourite experience so far due to the bugginess and the problems i had with it at launch, but it has brought some of my favourite features overall such a third party widgets and quick reply text messaging or deleting notifications from lock screen. I use quick reply often and it is probably my most used subtle feature.

iOS 9 beta is showing promise, I really like the subtle San Fran font (much easier to read) and little touches like how the keyboard has capitol/lower case letters now or how the battery usage stats are presented. I find it is also more stable for me in its beta than either iOS 8 or iOS 7 were at similar points in their beta cycle which is really good.
