Me, I am currently looking to buy the M1 iPad Pro. But it all depends on what they will announce on WWDC in terms of software for the iPad Pro.

Pre-ordering the base iMac in blue.

Q: will the ethernet pass thru power brick of the higher tier units be able to connect to the base iMac ?

Maybe not. The base iMac may not be able to receive data over the cable. Similarly both USB-C and Thunderbolt have the same connector, but they have different specs.

If this is important I would look for clarification before assuming.

I did see an option for the base iMac - $30 for Gigabit Ethernet - is that an upgraded power brick or an adapter dongle ???

Not buying any at the moment. Still holding out for larger screen laptop with more GPU cores.

Based on the event, I'm not an iPad user so I'd go back and pick the m1 Mac Mini. Let's be real, the M1 Mini, Air, 13-MBP, and 24" iMac are all the same computer inside. I really like the new iMac but I can't go back to a 24" screen.

a Mini with 16/256 (my preference) would be $899.

An iMac with 16/256 would be $1699.

Figure $200 for the included mouse and keyboard, so you're paying $600 for the 4.5k monitor.

Not bad, but you are stuck at 24". I'd have to see one in person to be swayed but even 27" seems smallish to me these days.

Very much want the 12.9" iPad, but will wait a couple months as I recently bought the M1 MacBook Air, a new machine for my daughter and a bunch of other tech stuff much to my wife's chagrin. My iPad Pro 11" is still holding up quite well... it's still more than adequate if I'm being honest.

Why aren't the old M1 machines on the list. They still service the purpose and therefore may be desireable depending on ones need. And unless Apple brings ipadOS closer to macOS at wwdc, I don't really see iPad yet as an alternative to a Mac.

None of them.

Quite happy with my M1 MBP. My ipad mini does what I need from a tablet.

If I'd wanted a desktop I'd have built a mini based system or waited.

None.

I'd actually be getting rid of my M1 MBA and buying one of the last top specced Intel machines.

None of the above. I've got an M1 mini. No use for an iMac, which is the same computer as the M1 mini, and I don't like the look. Also have an M1 MBA and love it to bits.

I'd only consider the M1 iPad Pro if the iPad ran MacOS apps. Otherwise, it's just a really good iPad with a gimped OS in my view.

I have the 2018 iPad Pro and I can’t see the point of buying the M1 version. I’d love to but I really don’t need it. I do love my M1 Mac mini though, it’s the best Mac I’ve ever owned. But I would not buy an iMac, because I do not wish to go back to an all in one. I prefer to keep the computer separate from the monitor.

Pretty sure that's the upgraded power brick.

There are aspects of the new iMac that I'm not happy with, but I'll be getting one anyway. The screen size is perfect for me, and it'll be huge step up (performance-wise) from my current 2013 21.5" model. I'm not sure it'll last me 7.5 years like the last one did, though.

16 GB/1 TB, probably blue.

Thanks @neilw
Great to hear for $30 more on a base model, the ethernet will be on the power brick.

We have a base 2019 21.5" iMac that is slow as a slug due to it's awful spinning HDD.

I'll be ordering on 4/30: base M1 iMac w/ Ethernet option in blue to match my iPhone 12.

I can't wait to ditch the external SSD boot drive I had been using since the 2012 iMac..... First time in 5 years!

If they could make them small enough to stick on my glasses, that would be something. :)

I will be buying a set though, they sound handy.
There is AirTag accessory for glasses. Can't remember the brand though. I think that will be quite a hit.
