Because people are saying that the 11 inch is actually fast despite the fact that it uses an older chip... I'm confused. I want one that's fast, not a pain in the... butt.

Help, please. :|

The 13" performs better, in terms of benchmarks. They're both fast, but the 13" has a better processor, in my opinion. The CPU in all MBA is from 2008 though.

Ah, I see. So, the 13 inch WOULD be the better choice.
It would be better if that's one of your criteria to purchasing.

There is no "better" laptop just which one fits your needs.

the 11" offers smaller form factor, price but its less powerful then the 13".

what is your intended use for the laptop? will it be your sole machine? What's your budget.

Will the smaller SSD provided in the 11" be sufficient to meet your needs.

SL9600 was launched in Q1 2009.

@OP: CPU speed is irrelevant in most cases as majority of apps are not very CPU intensive, thus 11" will perform fine. It's really up to your usage though but for general stuff, 11" is sufficient.

I'm going to be doing a lot of browsing. iTunes will always be open.

Not much else...

EDIT: What confuses me is that it seems the SSD makes the computer faster. What, should I just get the 999 dollar model?

I own a 13 and other than the fact that I got a deal on it, it doesn't make better sense. The MBA are made to be small and thin so if you are looking for a small thin laptop that performs well the 11.6 should be the first choice.
