Best buy has a discount for total tech members and they are selling 14 and 16 in MacBook pros that are speced at 16 GB unified memory and 1 TB SSD for 2450! I intend to dock this computer to my 34 in ultrawide monitor the majority of the time. I know the only difference lies in the size of the computer, but which machine is more ideal for the setup I intend to use? I am leaning towards the 16 in because it's a 250 dollar saving but I am definitely open to listening to other points of view! Thanks, everyone!

Which one would you buy if they were both full price? That's the one to get. When docked, the only difference apparently is the 16" would run a few degrees cooler in any given situation. That "extra $200 savings" bit is just mental masturbation - you won't be able to spend that "extra $200" over the 14" elsewhere. Bottom line is that you will be spending $2450 either way, so figure would the 14" or 16" be preferable for you during the times when you actually are mobile?

I use 16" MBP docked to my 34inch ultra wide. I stopped using my intel 16" since the day I bought my M1 Pro 16"!

I get what your saying! I think what makes me lean towards the 16 is Best Buy just had their presidents sale where the 14 in 16/1TB spec was 2299 haha!

I’m curious do you use the MagSafe or thunderbolt port to charge? The dongle I’m using uses thunderbolt so I figure clear up cable space and just use that instead of the MagSafe. Would you advise otherwise? Glad to see there is someone with a similar set up to what I’m trying to accomplish!

Amazon has the 14" for 2250.

Oh man I wish you didn’t show me this hahaha! But thankfully it’s only applicable for the silver and I wanna to space gray!

I didn't take out the MagSafe from the box. I use thunderbolt to charge. I use Caldigit USC-C Pro dock which charges and also connects to the ultra wide.

Costco Sale! -> Costco has sale as well on 14"!

Nice!! I just got back from best buy! I secured the 16 for the price of a base 16 so I’m pretty stoked! What specs do you have on yours?
