I recently bought a M1 13" MBP for $1000 at Best Buy. I have until this weekend to return it.... With the M2's out, and now thinking about the 14" for longevity.... I mostly bought it, so I could game on it anywhere. I currently have a 2018 Mac mini, 32 gb ram and it acts a bit wonky with Sims 4. I have tried a few other games that were unplayable, ie Human Fall Flat. I am not a big time gamer - play more games on my 12'9 iPad Pro, but I am getting tired of the mobile games or lack there of....

In the past, I would buy Windows I7's as a graphic designer using photoshop.... Then I got into using the iPP's - LOVE them... so that is why I got the Mac mini - just needed a desktop computer for a few things - plus LOVE my big monitors.... There are times when I do a remote access to my Mac mini - but it's not the best experience on my iPP....

SO I am trying to decide if I should keep the 12 MBP or trade it for an M2 or just stick to what I got....

M1 14" MBP is the sweet spot, IMO.

I tend to agree. The more YouTube videos I watch and reviews I read, the more I am of the opinion that the 14-inch MacBook Pro is the best value for the money. My only concern about buying a 14-inch MacBook Pro now would be the possibility that new models based on the M2 Pro chip are released before the end of the year.

I wouldn't hesitate, especially with the sales that are on periodically atm. as you saw with the MBA - there was a redesign (MBP had that already), and only minor performance increases. you'll also notice there was a sizeable price increase on the MBA - you can expect the same on a MBP

deciding on the pro as well. stronger processor faster bigger screen to use for everyday minus photo editing and whatnot. i was thinking of the getting the Air m1 version but memory might be a bit less.

Keep it. An M1 chip is a strong chip and will perform well, well into the future.

I decided to try the 14" - so exchanged the 13 for the 14.... when I put my M1 iPP next to the 13" I was shocked at how bad the display was compared to the iPP.... I also bought a Luna Display adapter to see how that works with my Mac and iPP....

I have an M1 MBP I'm completely happy with it but I also bought it before any of the other stuff came out. If I was in your shoes I definitely would have at the very least gone to an M2 MBA or M2 MBP but the 14' would also be a good option. No matter what I would definitely return the M1 for something newer.

Last night at BB I compared the M2 MBA, MBP and the 16" (14" not on display) - I loved so many more things with the 16" other than how heavy and huge it is.... SO the 14" should hit the sweet spot. I decided I wanted to more "future" proof it, especially as my Mac mini might need to be babied - acting a bit more funky....
