Which Macs offer dual display support

Do the Quad macs or Dual powermacs support dual display without the purchase of another cards, i.e. running two 20" monitors? Does the Mini Mac allow dual display (not mirror) or can i get dual display with an imac? Thanks

All Macs except for the Mac mini.
(Out of the box, at least. I think there's a USB or FireWire video card for the mini)

Also to avoid confusion, only the Intel iMac and MacBook have this feature officially out of the box, for the iMac G5 and iBook G4 you needed a screen spanning hack.

reason for asking is that i might be given an Imac and I have a DVI monitor and wondered if they can work side by side.

Apple enabled this feature by default in the Intel Macs, but on the older consumer boxes (iMac, iBook) it was disabled so you were limited to mirroring unless you used the hack that Danski linked to.

Do you know how old the iMac is? The Intel ones support dual monitors but the G5 ones don't out of the box. The screen spanning hack mentioned above allows this on the older G5 iMacs and iBooks.

You can run a DVI monitor from the iMac G5 with SSD, but not from an iBook since it only had mini-VGA. The resolution depends on the amount of VRAM in your iMac, but you should be able to drive an external 20" ACD which is 1600 x 1050.

If you're being offered an iMac, I suggest you take it, regardless of its display support abilities

No, only the Intel iMac has mini DVI out, the iMac G5 had mini VGA out and requires the screen spanning hack.
