Do the Quad macs or Dual powermacs support dual display without the purchase of another cards, i.e. running two 20" monitors? Does the Mini Mac allow dual display (not mirror) or can i get dual display with an imac? Thanks
Also to avoid confusion, only the Intel iMac and MacBook have this feature officially out of the box, for the iMac G5 and iBook G4 you needed a screen spanning hack.plinden said:But just to avoid any possibility of confusion, for the iMac and the laptops, dual display means they can run an additional external monitor, not two external monitors.

Apple enabled this feature by default in the Intel Macs, but on the older consumer boxes (iMac, iBook) it was disabled so you were limited to mirroring unless you used the hack that Danski linked to.Tan from London said:Sorry, bit lost here. Can the Imac g5 (not intel) run an additional display (not mirror display) and if so, how?
What is it about the intel imac that allows this?
You can run a DVI monitor from the iMac G5 with SSD, but not from an iBook since it only had mini-VGA. The resolution depends on the amount of VRAM in your iMac, but you should be able to drive an external 20" ACD which is 1600 x 1050.Tan from London said:With the screen spanning Doctor, can you runan external DVI monitor or does it have to be a VGA? Also what resolution do you get. Thanks.

Tan from London said:reason for asking is that i might be given an Imac and I have a DVI monitor and wondered if they can work side by side.
