Curious which MBA model is proving more popular.

I think you will find that the 11 is likely more popular, if only due to the fact that it is so small, so new, and priced right for many who have wanted to jump into a Mac Ultra Portable. Those that have more complex computing needs while mobile are likely to go with the 13, along with those that have larger storage needs than the 11 provides at 128 GB maximum.

I bought the 11 for its small size. It is certainly a screamer of a system for most of the things that I do. I also configured a 35 GB parition for running Windows in Bootcamp, so it covers a bunch of software for work that requires Windows.

I did order the 13" macbook air with 4 Gb ram from the authorized reseller (in Australia) and waited for 2 weeks but it still hadn't shown up. They said that it might take another one or two weeks. So I just picked up the 11" 2 Gb ram last weekend.

Loving The Little Air!

I bought the 11.6" Air a few days ago. I opted for the 128Gig, 1.6 GHz since I was replacing an older 13.3" (also with SSD) and was worried about moving to a weaker processor.

So far, I am loving this thing. It appears faster in every respect and has had no difficulty handling anything I've thrown at it. I was playing with FileMaker last night and the baby Air just whizzed right through the data.

The old Air was the best laptop I've ever owned right up until the time I bought this one.

I went with the 13" w/4GB to replace my late 2008 15" MacBook Pro. It should be here early next week.. I can't wait for the extra portability.

I played with the 11" Air at Best Buy a few weeks ago - but I thought eventually the screen would prove too small for me...

The clincher was that I was planning on purchasing the Ultimate 11" Air ($1399) - and realized if I purchased the 13" Air with upgraded RAM, the price would have been the same ($1399) with more specs! And even in my case, with MacMall it was $10 cheaper than the 11" Ultimate Air ($1359 vs $1369)...

I could not be happier with my decision!!!

Well, evidently not for this rather unscientific poll. 13's preferred by a 2:1 ratio.

To each his own. I bought the 13" Ultimate. I need the RAM and higher-capacity SSD for work. My wife got the 11" base model because web stuff is pretty much all she needs a computer for and she wants the small size. She'll never run anything more taxing than iWork.

I put the question of which model was selling more to the Apple Store business specialist when I got mine a couple weeks ago. He said that for the students and casual users, the 11 was doing well, but he also said that he'd had several business people bring their 11's back to exchange them for 13's, because the screens were too small (YMMV!) for them do do long stretches of real work.

I expected the 11 to be more popular as well given the extended ship time on the 11. Interesting that so far the 13 has turned out to be more popular in this non scientific poll.

Given that the people who post to online forums tend to be "power users" or "enthusiasts," I'm not too surprised. We don't get many posts from the casual user who buys an 11" to use on the web.

I agree. I also think that the percentage of people getting 4GB is even more highly skewed because of our demographics.

Yeah this poll will be highly inaccurate as most people here are fanboys running virtual machines and so forth, while the average user who may buy the base model of either machine won't vote as they likely don't even know that macrumors exists. It is a an accurate poll, however, to show which macbook airs the uber fanboy geeks have been buying.

Haha, oh my that just means that all the recommendations to go with 4GB RAM instead of 2GB are all skewed too! But its quite true that 4GB is better due to the fact that the RAM is friggin soldered to the board.

I planned on buying the base line 13" with 4GB of RAM but then I needed a way to write reports and I didn't feel like doing that on my mac mini on the plasma. I went to the Apple store and was about to buy the MBP 13" as I know I need 4 GB. I ended up with the 13" 2.13Ghz, 4GB RAM and 256SSD. I am not looking back.
