Which notebook fits me? - Please help -

Hey all,
I still can't seem to decide which notebook would fit me better, Macbook, or Macbook pro.
I like the style, build, and small size of the Macbook, so I've leaned to that a lot lately. But the Macbook pro recently(as you all know) had a pretty slick upgrade.

This is my first Mac.
I'd like to make music with it, burn cds, use programs, ect. I'd probably only run photoshop to goof off with my own photos, of friends and such, but still that's some use. Of course, I'd also like to do online web surfing (youtube is a must), lots of email, and even some games. (City of Heroes anyone?, hmm?, diablo?) but I do own a 360, so only one or two computer games is fine.

This are only my "for now" intentions, and looking at the impressive mac programs I'm sure this will all change. Any advise?

Everything except gaming would make the Macbook fit you to a T. Note also that the lower-end Macbook only has a combo drive and so it can only burn CDs, not DVDs, unless you get the superdrive. For everything else you mention you'd be fine with the Macbook.

Agreed 100%. If it were me, I'd snag a middle- or high-end MacBook and then just play the games on some other machine. Wouldn't be worth the extra $500 - $1000 to me just for "a couple of games".
 
Thanks guys for the tip, so Macbook pro can handle intense music programs, and some photoshop use, ect?
 
Any of Apple's laptops will fit your needs. Of course, you might want to stay away from the low-end MacBook because it doesn't have a DVD burner, so my recommendation to you would be to pick up the mid-range MacBook (white). You'll be very pleased with it.

Of course, if you need more screen real estate and are thinking your needs might increase in the next year or two, take a look at the low-end MacBook Pro. It really all comes down to your budget.
 
I'm in a similar situation, but will be doing some video editing and more photoshoping than you (it sounds like). I'm leaning MBP because w/ student discount, its only 298$ more, and for 2 screen inches a newer chip, graphics card, and LED, its worth it
 
Definitely go with the MacBook. You already stated you like its smaller size, you then said what you will be using it for and the MacBook will be plenty capable of handling those needs. Obviously the MBP could handle them better but then it will be bigger (which by your own words is a con), and noticeably more expensive (for everybody is a con). Go with the MacBook.
 
Go with the Macbook, the games aren't worth the extra price.

Maybe even look a refurbed and get some more RAM
 
Thank you all very much for the help. I'm just a little nervous about the screen size and power for longevity.
If I get a Mac, I will want it in white. (probably anyway..I like the traditional white Mac color) But i plan to amp the stuff up with 2GB of ram. How would that perform compared to a Macbook pro?
 
Anything requiring a good GPU will be many times faster on the MBP. Otherwise, the MBP uses a newer CPU with faster FSB, but I don't think for most things you'd be conscious of the difference.
