Based on my other post, it looks like the best bang for the bug might be a NVIDIA 1060. So now the question becomes which NVIDIA 1060? Which manufacturer / card has had the best results for those who have previously used NVIDIA cards?

I'm partial to the Gigabyte 3 fan Windforce cards. I have had a GTX 570, GTX 780 and now a GTX 1080. They run cool in a cMP.

But, looks like 3 fan hard to find in GTX 1060. There's the 2 fan version.

The GTX 1060s would be here:

http://www.gigabyte.us/Graphics-Card/GV-N1060D5-6GD-rev-20#kf

And at Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-1060-WINDFORCE-GV-N1060WF2OC-6GD/dp/B01N0P24HI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493681276&sr=8-1&keywords=gigabyte+GTX+1060&th=1

But, looks like the 3 fan Rock Edition is less expensive:

https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeF...681276&sr=8-1&keywords=gigabyte+GTX+1060&th=1

Assuming you want 6GB RAM.

Seems silly to buy the 3GB version when the difference is usually about $50.

^^^^I agree, that's why all the links I provided for you are 6GB versions.

I have the 1070 windforce version of the card. i don't know about the 1060 version, but i really like this card because of the "fan-off" mode. on desktop mode of high sierra the fans don't move at all. no noise, no dust. just m2c. :D
update: oh, this is an old thread :/

I used a Zotac Geforce 1060 Mini: https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-ZT-P10600A-10L-Compact-Graphics/dp/B01IA9FEOO

When using HDMIaudio.kext, only the 1st DisplayPort plug would give audio (using a DP->HDMI2.0 active adapter), but other than that no problems with the NVIDIA web drivers.

I'm currently using a PNY Geforce 1080 founder's edition with no problems - I got it for $300 used. A lot of people are dumping their mining cards on ebay/craigslist, so unless you're hoping to hold on to your Mac Pro for another ten years you may want to consider buying used.

Didn't realize this was a gravedig thread :confused:

Since the birth of this thread, some folks have had various problems with the GTX 1060. IMHO, not a reliable card for a cMP. AFAIK, the GTX 1070, and 1080 are trouble free when used with the Web Driver. I have been using my MVC flashed Gigabyte GTX 1080 since April of last year. No Issues!

Couldn’t find your other post.
Can you clarify here why you’re going for a 1060 instead of an RX 580?
Unless you have very specific requirements for Nvidia then the RX 580 is a far preferable card in a cMP these days.

Don't forget, no drivers Nvidia for Mojave yet.

I also think the 1070 is the better value.

well the OP posted about 1.5 years ago so that may have something to do with it.
