Which of these imacs is the better value? The first two are refurbs and the last one is a new model. I qualify for education pricing?

Thanks for your input

Yep I vote the 2.8ghz model. (and it's not just because I'm sitting in front of one)

2 months ago the 2.8 was sitting in the 2.93's spot in the iMac line up. Now at that price, it's a steal.

I just got my 2.8 ghz refurb this past week - and I couldn't be happier. I was all over the board with what I was going to get - but in the end I just could not turn down this deal. I was actually surprised I didn't miss out on it!

Yep, no 2.

Also, the money you save by not buying the new most expensive model you can put in a box under the bed. When, in years to come you need a better MAC it will buy you much more of a mac than the potential to expand to 8GB of RAM will get you, if you follow my reasoning.

On the Apple Store website, click on the "clearance" icon at the lower left corner. There you will find the 2.8GHz model NEW on clearance for $1399. If you are a student you can get it for $1299, which makes it a real steal!

And the only thing different between a refurb and clearance is a wad of cash missing from you pocket.....

+1

I actually prefer refurbs as whatever's broken is fixed, the unit is brought up to "new" condition, goes through even more testing and saves quite a bit of $$$. You don't get the pretty box but you do get the full 1-year warranty and the $100 printer rebate...

Just an update on yet another mac help thread. I ordered the refurb most recommended to get. In the end I based cost against speed and I think got a good deal. Currently the imac has just left the mother ship in California and is on the way to Canada...Thanks to those who gave input.
