Hi, first, I didn’t know if this thread should be here or in Buying Tips, but anyway.
My doubt is about the brand new 27” iMac’s processor, If I should buy a more GHz one, but with only two cores, or should I buy little bit less GHz one, but with four cores.

It really worth pay $200 more? It really worth the four cores? My main needs are run CS4, some Final Cut, maybe Logic Studio, and switch between different OS's (OS X, Windows, and Linux). I think even a 21.5” model would be more than enough, but I just wonder If Quad Core gonna give me more power (I hope so).

Even if those apps only use two cores( not sure if they are optimized yet for 4 cores), the i5 will run at 3.2 Ghz when running as a dual core. Even though the clock speed is slower when running as a quad core, it will still be faster then the C2D. Go for the i5( i7 if you can afford the extra money as it will run at 3.46 Ghz when running as a dual core and has hyperthreading).

Given what you've listed, you'd be better off with the '09 Quad iMac.

And it offers more than just an extra pair of cores. Think in terms of memory bandwidth, and the graphics as well. You're getting a faster set of subsystems.

Yup go the i7!! Just cause it says 3.06ghz doesn't make is faster or better!
Iseries CPUs are a lot more powerul newer technolgy and wel pack more punch! Down the track u can get a extra 4gb ram for very cheap and increase the proformance and longetivity of your machine!

All in all you want to future proof it :)

So go the i7 u won't regret it!!
