Hiya.
I'm very happy right now but i have one question that I'm worried about.

Basically, on Saturday, I ordered a new iMac (Unaware that it was to be updated just the tuesday following.) It was the 3rd option (if you're looking at the range on the apple store) the 24" one with the 2.8GHZ Dual core 2 processor, which I also chose to give the NVidia 8800 GS with 512mb memory.

However, today I got an email:

"Thank your for your recent Apple Store order.

Apple is pleased to announce the new 24-inch iMac, now featuring higher-performance graphics, more standard memory with faster memory technology, a larger standard hard drive, four USB 2.0 ports, and more.

As your iMac has not yet shipped, we are changing your original order to the new 24-inch iMac model at no extra cost to you.

We expect to begin shipping the new iMac on March 10th."

I'm VERY grateful for this! However my question is, does anyone know or can take a guess at which one it is they will send me? (b.c it has 3 24" iMacs up there now) I fear that it will be one with the integrated chipset.

I guess it'll be the mid 24" (2.93GHz etc...). Can't be the 24" with 9400M, that thing costs 1400€ while the old 24" with 2.8 and 8800 cost 1750€.

Send 'em and e-mail and ask

If you log into your account on the Apple store you should be able to view order details and it will show you the exact config. Or you can just call them and ask.....

I'd have to agree...

probably the one that is the same price.

I'd have to agree, they will most likely send you the one of equal value, the $1800 one. I'd be more concerned if you payed extra for an upgrade that you may not need now, such as HDD space or memory. If they send you one with an integrated chip then just send it back, on their dime. Apple is usually fare, notice I said usually. they will (at the stores anyways) try to make it right.

Why don't you call and find out? If they are changing your order you should at least know what you are getting.

If you ordered the high end video card then I would be expecting the replacement to use the current high end 4850.

No 4850 if the shipping date is right (10th of March) maybe GT130

Thanks for the replies, at the moment, looking at the order status, they haven't put down the specs of it just yet, though its said to be updated within the next 24 hrs. I may try calling, but the post above has ironed out the possibility of the Radeon HD. Thats ok, i wasn't expecting that.

EDIT:

I've found the specs of the new iMac they're gonna send and I'm very happy with it:

2.93GHZ INTEL CORE 2 DUO
4GB 1066MHZ DDR3 SDRAM-2X2GB
NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 130 512MB
640GB SERIAL ATA DRIVE
APPLE MIGHTY MOUSE
APPLE REMOTE
WL KYBD & USER'S GUIDE-B
COUNTRY KIT,IMAC 24-GBR

This is just one more reason why I like Apple. They take great care fo their customers....

Bryan
