Hello,

I would like to know which iMac should I buy.

I want the 27" because of the upgradable RAM and that gorgeous 5K Retina crystal clear display. I read Macs can last like 8-10 years if everything is okay and if you are lucky. Technology is increasing and improving pretty fast. I wouldn't want to change my iMac after only 5 years if I payed it 3k$+ and in the same time, as I said technologies are getting better and better. So imagine computers in 5 years. I will probably want another one (I see people often buying new computers after like 5 years and even less here on the Forum) but I will be like "No I payed it 3k+ so I'm gonna use it for a longer time" while specs are improving and computers getting faster and better... and I won't be part of the buyers.

Do you guys think it's worth it to spend more and also keep computer for a long time (while technology is going fast) or buy a less expensive one and change it more often? I don't see myself buying another one in like 5 years if I buy a 3k$ one right now. But maybe I will regret it to keep it longer while specs get better every years with new computers.

In your opinion, would you regret it if you had to keep your 2017 computer for more years before buying another one and you know that new computers will be released?

Another option is the 21.5" and I would consider it if it had upgradable RAM. We never know if I'll have to change RAM for whatever reason and at that price it would have been great to have the possibility to upgrade later. Yes I know I can add more RAM in the configuration but I would still have that on my mind that RAM is not upgradable later.

Opinion and suggestion?

Thanks
