This poll is to see which PC brand people enjoy using and are willing to consider purchasing another product from this brand again in the future.

I voted Surface. A 2017 Surface Pro was my first PC since the XP days, so I don’t have much experience with the others. Dell and HP drove me to Mac 10 years ago out of frustration with them, but I understand Dell has really improved lately.

That said, I have always had exemplary customer service and support from my local Microsoft Store and the only issue that I have had with my Surface Pro the past year was self inflicted.

I would absolutely purchase another. My wife wants a Go after seeing my Pro and a SB2 or updated Surface when it is released might be in my future

Over here
If it was a portable device then I would have to say the Surface, it's as bad as Apple when it comes to upgrades but still a great range of products that are underpowered at the lower end much again like Apple.

For anything desktop related I would and do build my own.

For desktops, I would rather have a NUC for a mini system or a PowerSpec for a tower. The PowerSpec uses off the shelf parts so it's easy to upgrade and/or repair.

Dell, MS and Razer have been good and problem free, though admittedly, the Razer ownership was excessively short, i.e., 2 weeks. Of the two weeks it was an excellent machine and contacting support was fine.

If I was going to buy a PC with the intention of getting as good support as Apple I would probably only look at Lenovo and Microsoft. That's only based on my experience and others I know who have purchased machines from those companies.

Microsoft are opening more and more physical stores. I feel like that is an important factor that gives me the same comfort as visiting an Apple Store.

I agree. The staff and particularly the manager at my local store are great and really worked with me when I decided to buy my surface pro, including being really easy about returns while I was trying to get the specs I needed dialed in and being patient with questions and issues I had in returning to Windows after a decade away. They even set me up with a complimentary year of Assure, which was similar to Apples old One to One and made the transition easy. I am not sure I would have made the purchase without the store.

It was a tough choice between Lenovo and Acer, but went with Lenovo. I've owned many Lenovo notebooks and desktops over the years... going back to when IBM contracted PC/notebook manufacturing out to them. Their business-strength models are like tanks and they can produce entry-level basement devices that are surprisingly better in quality than their low price would indicate. I like that they take chances with some out-of-the-box designs. I love their watchband hinge. Their Yoga Book is something ahead of its time... the rest of the industry will catch on to this idea (in one form or another) within the next 3-5 years.

Acer for me is the runner-up. If someone told me 10 years ago that I'd be mentioning Acer in a favorable light, I would've laughed. But Acer has done a great job of improving things. They too have some daring designs and have really established their reputation in the chromebook space. The Acer R11 is a quirky but solid 2-in-1 chromebook... it opened my eyes to the possibilities of the platform so that when killer deals on the Google Pixelbook came around, buying one was an easy decision. The Acer Chromebook 14 is an all brushed-metal (I don't think it is aluminum) notebook with a matte screen that feels far more premium than the $250 MSRP.

^^ Agreed. Built my son a nice mini gaming rig in an mini-ATX case with an i5 and a GTX 1060.

For pre-built, I guess I like the Microsoft Surface line. The Surface Studio is one sexy machine.

My vote is for Lenovo, simply because amongst the PC OEMs, Lenovo seems to be the only one that still focuses on giving more bang for the buck while the rest of the OEMs are only interested in pushing their higher margin models.

My second vote would be LG (which is not on the list), as at least they're trying to innovate with the LG Gram.

I currently own a Microsoft Surface Pro and love it. It reminds me of when I bought my Macbook Air... how pleased I was with it. I really have no complaints, other than I wish it was more serviceable.

Next on the list would be Lenovo, but since I have and love a Surface, that is what I voted for.

Any place but here or there....
Do not know.

I have an Acer 2017 Swift laptop at home, but haven’t used it in months. The W10 updates not that would not complete and start up again after reboots did not help (yes, Windows noob). Cannot blame Acer for that. I never called their support.

I like what I am hearing from folks about Microsoft’s store/support. So I voted based on other folks’ experiences. Not a real vote, but...
