The following is from this support article: support.apple.com/en-us/HT209044

Set up another cellular plan on your iPhone

All iPhone models that support eSIM can have multiple eSIMs and use Dual SIM with two active SIMs at the same time.

You can use Dual SIM by using a physical SIM and an eSIM. iPhone 13 models and later also support two active eSIMs. iPhone models without a physical SIM tray support two active eSIMs.

__________

The above was a bit confusing for me. I hope I've worded my thoughts properly:

Would an iPhone 11 Pro have Dual SIM Active with 2 eSIMs or only via 1 physical and 1 eSIM?

According to the second line, are only iPhones 13 and newer Dual SIM Active with eSIMs? Meaning iPhones older than 13 were not DUAL SIM Active with eSIMs; only via 1 physical & 1 eSIM?

To add a little more clarification. Regardless of esim or psim you can only have 2 ACTIVE sims. Technically you can add more esims to your device but only 2 can be used at any given time.

On an iPhone 11 Pro, if I'm on a call using eSIM1 and I get a text on eSIM2, does this mean that I will not get the text until I hang up the phone? And what would happen if I was on a call with a pSIM and I got a text on my eSIM - would I get the text right away? Is that the difference between Active vs. Standby?

And what would happen on a 13 Pro in the same scenario above? I would always get a text since I can have two eSIMs in Active Dual Sim?
