Often I notice that an app listed in AppSniper is for "free" but when going to buy it the original price is listed. I don't buy it as I am not sure which price is in effect. What is your experience with this?

When you start to buy an app from AppSniper, it tells you "There's been a price change" and when you get to the iTunes store, it has the right price. So, AppSniper will let you know if there's been a change in the price when you click on "Buy".
Well I am not sure either response answers my question. As I said some time the AppSniper will say "free" (no other mention of change etc) then when you choose it and get the the app store there is a INCREASE from free to say $0.99. So in this situation do you trust the price in the AppSniper? Have you ever been charged the price/free in the AppSniper when it was different from the greater price in the app store?
Of course not. Apple doesn't run AppSniper, or have any contract with them AFAIK. So their App store isn't legally obligated to pay any attention to any mistakes or old lagged pricing data on that site.
AppSniper itself says to be sure to check the App Store for the authoritative price. My own experience tells me that when you tap the Buy arrow in AppSniper, it informs you if the price in their database doesn't match the one on the App Store. So I don't think there is much to worry about, except the disappointment when you discover you missed a price reduction. 
You should assume that the price on the AppStore/iTunes is ALWAYS correct. AppSniper gets its data from iTunes, so it's necessarily always going to be behind the real AppStore. In addition, sometimes price changes may be missed or our servers may be slightly out of sync so you'll see discrepencies.

Many thanks for the replies. I have been taking the App store price as the correct one. However, I had noticed the difference and had not seen it discussed. Thanks again for the replies.
