Well, I would have purchased the new 20" $1499 iMac today, however, my replacement American Express Card has yet to appear in my mailbox. As soon as it does...I will be purchasing one!

I have heard that it can be cheaper to upgrade the RAM myself rather than paying Apple's premium. I would like AT LEAST 2 GB RAM in my new 20" to help to support Aperture tasks. I assume it's cheaper to purchase my own ram. Does this void any sort of warranty?

Assuming it doesn't void the warranty, what RAM would you recommend that has the same or better quality than Apple for a cheaper price?
