hello

hi, I remember reading a thread that there is 1 particular brand of rx480 that does not work, can't seem to find that thread.... is it the XFX?

Thanks.

I agree with the above, but it was the one I bought for my windows PC when they first came out. I tried swapping it into my MP 2010 at the beginning of the year running Sierra with extremely poor results. (Reboots, crashes, etc.) I am now running it in the same MacPro with High Sierra and all seems to be fine (though I have to run fan control, but that might just be a result of two GPUs).

I had an XFX RX480 OC, other than sounding like a riced-up lawnmower it worked like a charm and never had any issues with it. Apart from hearing loss.

XFX card not always doesn't work, but just has a high chance that come with custom BIOS which may not work on a Mac. That's why better to avoid.

If we know a particular model that can work flawlessly in a cMP. Then of course it doesn't really matter if that's a XFX card.
