So as a 6P owner, I decided to return it back to Google because they don't want to honor my warranty because of paint peeling, which is a known issue.

I decided I want to go back to Samsung for an android device. I am thinking about the Note 5, S6 Edge Plus, S7, or S7 Edge Plus.

Which device would serve me best? My head is telling me to wait till the S7 Edge Plus because it will have a potential SD slot, a water resistant body, USB Type C, 3D Touch, and a better battery life.

I am concerned with the software. Has the aggressive ram management gone away yet? I really miss my TW UI and some of the features. Am I better off saving money and going for the Note 5 or waiting and drop the extra for the S7 Edge Plus?

The aggressive ram was less of an issue with the note 5 and edge plus. Due to the benefit of the 1gb extra ram rather than software optimisation. But yes compared to the S6 / Edge the multitasking is much improved with the extra ram. Maybe still not as many open apps as the 6P but far more than the S6/Edge (I got around 7-8 open apps before refreshing on the edge+ & note 5 compared to 4-5 on the Edge).

S7 range will be more expensive than the device currently available and a lot of specs are just rumours right now. Some of the features you have listed may not appear in the final product.

Whereas you know the score with the current devices.

If you can wait till mid / late February for the unveiling you will at least know what the specs will be, but if in the end the difference is more incremental - you can decide whether they are worth it.

If microSD and waterproofing do not materialise on the forthcoming handsets; the current crop of devices still offer plenty of speed (does anyone complain of the speed of the exynos?) And the note 5 & edge plus handle multitasking much better thanks to that extra gb. Plus they can be picked up at great prices now.

If you need a Android device now and can't wait until March when the S7 will be available, then i would suggest the Note 5.
It should do all you need and then some. The ram issue does not affect the vast majority of users anyway. But if you can wait until March the S7 should be a beast of a phone!

I would wait for the S7 models to be out. The rumours on screen sizes are mixed, but you'll likely see one that suits you.
And if you don't mind Lollipop or a big screen, the A9 is worth considering. It has a Snapdragon 652, which is about as powerful as the 810, and it's got the same solid build. The main drawback though, as I said, is Lollipop, and it's not likely to get Marshmallow any time soon.
And just a warning about the Edge, it's a very nice design, but the novelty does wear off. So be careful with the extra money.

I had the S6 Edge and I agree. Thing is I love the design of the dual curved screens and from what I read, MM makes it much more usable, so I expect even more for the next gen. If not, I can always grab the S6 Edge Plus.
[doublepost=1452556153][/doublepost]So I managed to get into the Galaxy Test Drive for T-Mobile. I think I chose the Galaxy S6 Edge too. So I can use Samsung again to quell my TW wants until the S7 Edge is announced.

edge+ is amazing. I would wait for the S7 lineup, however. We're not sure if they're going to release an S7 edge alongside an edge+, or just an edge (5.5"). Either way it should be pretty cool. I'm very happy with mine though.

Well, I got the GS6 Edge via trial though, so idk how long it takes to put the order through and how long it takes to ship.

Note 5 is a beast. And is similar size to the 6P, but even more compact. With a slightly better screen + camera.

Plus battey life is a tad better on the Note 5.

Almost could've gotten a brand new Note 5 for $500, but decided not to pull the trigger.

It depends on the carrier you choose and which phone. For example I tried to choose almost every carrier (except Sprint) for the Note 5 and couldn't get one until recently. Unfortunately I'm testing out a GS6 for Verizon. I wanted to test out one for T-mobile since I'm considering switching to them one day but could never get it. So I chose Verizon. It took a couple days for them to send me the Edge because it was the holiday season. So max was about 5 days.

Ah I went for my carrier specifically. Maybe I'll go Verizon next time since I want to try Big Red.

The Note 5 is imo the best android phone out now, but if it is too big for you then you should wait for the S7 as that seems beastly too. Worse case scenario is that you can still pick up the S6 at a reduced price if you don't like it.

I had the option of getting the Note 4 or Note 5. I opted for the Note 4. I'm not a fan of the lack of an SD card and non removable battery. I already have an iPhone and when that battery gets shot I'll have to replace it for like $100. Where the note 4, or a few dollars.
