Which screen would you choose? Glossy, Matte, or HR Glossy

I want to take a poll....

If you had a choice of screens to choose and they were all the same price, which would you choose, the:

a.) High Resolution Glossy Screen 17"
b.) High Resolution Matte 17"
c.) Glossy 17"
d.) Matte 17"
e.) LED Glossy 15"
f.) LED Matte 15"

Which screen is better to own? The LED's or the High Resolution?


**My all time favorite is 17" HR Glossy Screen~the most beautiful screen to date that I have ever seen!

Umm...why didn't you create a poll? Would have been a lot easier to see results in my opinion;)

I'm going to give two different answers for your poll, since 15" is an option. If size wasn't an issue (I wouldn't be carting my mbp off to a lot of places) I would go with the 17" matte high res. In the real world, I like to be able to easily transport stuff, so I would go with what I have now: LED backlit 15" matte.
 
B for me, even though the print/smaller font can actually be tougher to read on this model than on the non-high res 17"...

am getting one as soon as leopard comes out. LED backlit version for the 17" inchers, which is apparently coming in the not too distant future ;), would be sweet, too!
 
c. Glossy 17"

I looked hard at the high res 17 but 133 dpi is just too darn small for me. Of course, if you need to do mobile HD editing then it is absolutely the screen for you.
 
matte finish. For me its 15" as I don't need the additional real estate and I want slightly longer battery life, however if I was doing video editting it would be the 17" Hi Res screen.
 
17" is simply to big for lap work. I choose 15" glossy LED although a higher resolution one wouldn't go amiss!
 
no contest: 15" glossy.

It's what I recently bought, after taking a gamble due to what I read on these forums. I loved the look of the saturated colour offered by the glossy, but hesitated after reading about problems with reflections. I have had the computer for over a month now and have not once been bothered by reflection. I forgot all about this potential problem up until now, when I spotted this thread.
 
17" Hi-resolution matte (b), but I would really like it if it were LED backlit, and I'd be even more pleased if the 15" got a 1900x1200 LED backlit display. Maybe when Leopard comes out.
 
Honestly, you cannot tell the difference between LED and CCFL backlighting. My untrained eyes could not tell when I had the 17" and 15" side by side. But there is the power savings aspect. Also, I get just as many reflections in my matte screen as I do in my glossy. As long as you turn it away from ceiling lights (who points their monitor towards the ceiling anyway?) glossy is fine. The HR would be good if you need HR for watching movies or something.

You can't see a difference? Might need an eye exam...I do agree on the misconception about reflections with a glossy screen though, having used both. If you angle your screen at a bright light source, you are going to get reflections; you can't avoid it.

I would love to choose a high-resolution screen, but 17" in just too big of a computer to carry around on campus all the time. As soon as there's a MBP with a high-resolution LED-backlit 15" screen, it'll be mine. Until then I'm going to stick with my 15" LED-backlit Glossy. (e)
 
e for me. Very rich looking especially for video work. The so-called glare is hardly noticeable when working outside on my patio, but then again, I don't point the screen at the sun. When inside, there is no glare and no reflection and I have the worse lighting location possible :(
 
I personally can't wait for the 17" LED's to come out.
Hopefully they are released real soon, when they are I'm for sure getting glossy. Haven't gotten the chance to see a Hi-Res yet I do like the idea of a lot of screen real estate.

Lol dude, it looked like the guy turned the brightness way down on the one on the left. That is what my lappy looks like when it runs on batteries. That's just a lie. Where are the actual brightness stats for LED? I saw a 2.2 15" matte MBP next to the 2.4 17" matte and they looked exactly the same.

Maybe the store was lying and the 15" was actually an old version??? I think that pic is a lie.

The picture is true but it is also inaccurate, if you have your LCD screen on for 15-30 minutes it warms up and slowly gets brighter. Even Apple says that when it finally warms up its the same brightness as the LED screen. (The advantage of the LED screen is it doesn’t have to warm up). That comparison right there is between a LED screen and a LCD screen that was just turned on.
