I was unable to trasnfer data from my old MBPro because of many technical issues, including a trackpad that had swollen.
So I've pried open the machine and want to take out the drive. Which screwdriver do I need for this?
And if my drive is an older formatted drive what will I need to do to transfer data to my desktop?

If you mean the screws on top of the HDD, they are Torx T6 heads but DO NOT touch them. They open the HDD itself.
It seems like it's a MacBook Pro 15" Mid/Late 2007, so take a look here (they should be Torx T6 as well though):

But your HDD has quite likely been replaced previously as it's from 2010-09-19. So I can only assume the bracket has been installed back with its original screws.
And if my drive is an older formatted drive what will I need to do to transfer data to my desktop?
If it is a Mac, there should be no problems reading the contents.
edit:
Or do you mean which adapter to get? What is your 'desktop'?

lol you are very lucky this guy caught your mistake

hard-drives are hermetically sealed against dust, some even contain vacuums I think…? if you'd loosened those screws you'd be in the danger zone

if the idea here is long-term storage and it's at all important, you should consider cloning to another (new) drive or off-site backup. I've got a ton of 15+ year-old drives and I bet at least a quarter of them won't mount today.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I lifted it out using a Torq 6 screwdriver I found in the garage.
