I spent last night and this morning trying to find this question via google and on MR but I can't find any good source so I'll make my own thread...

Apple music vs. iTunes Radio vs. 'Genius' suggestions vs. Pandora... which is best for finding new RECOMMENDED music?

I find the most interesting music using other people's playlists in Spotify (both user-generated and Spotify-curated). The "Discover" playlist (which is generated using crowd-sourcing from people who listen to similar things as you do) also works well. Algorithm-driven recommendation systems like Pandora and custom iTunes Radio stations tend to play too much music that I already know and/or own.

I've actually never given Spotify a try before... perhaps I will now that you recommend it. Somehow I thought it was just a music streaming service where you tell it specifically what songs/albums you wanted (as if listening to it via youtube) but now I realize that was a pretty dumb assumption haha

Spotify is so much better than Apple Music for discovering new music, however I get Apple Music for free on my phone plan so I stick with it.

Discover Weekly is quite amazing. This week it's not the best because I've been listening to certain bands too much (let's loop the new album for six hours...) so I get the same acts' other songs. Yeah. I know those. But there is still a lot of stuff I never heard before.

Embarrassingly I just found out I like Selena Gomez, though. *deletes Spotify, throws computer in the bin*

pandora still ok.... for me, mostly Apple music, i been traffering all my macs round different Apple accounts including iOS, so now i'm locked in all but my Mac, and I can't listen to APple music on that ether because of iTunes.

Life was better at some stage.

I enjoy it more discovering in apple music over spotify. But spotify's discover weekly is quite good i must say.
