I'm trying to decide which amount of memory I need to get with the iPhone 5. Up until now I was set on getting the 32GB just to be safe. I'm going to try to get one at my local Verizon store tomorrow but it sounds like the carrier stores are getting limited supplies, and I have a feeling if I'm faced with getting the 16GB because they're out of 32, I'm gonna go for it. I really do think it will be enough memory for me, but never having owned an iPhone before, I'm afraid I'm wrong! I'll have this phone for 2 years so I have to keep that in mind as well. I never put very much music on my phone, no movies, very few recorded videos, and not a huge amount of apps. I mostly need space for a good amount of pictures and would say on average I'll probably have around 25 apps on my iPhone. I typically go through my phone once a month or so and delete the stuff I don't need, regardless of whether I'm running out of space or not. I just don't like a cluttered phone.

On my HTC Incredible 2, I'm currently only using 3GB of the 16GB card which includes:

1745 pictures (this phone has an 8 megapixel camera)
35 songs
8 videos (but I should note that only one of them was actually intended and it's only 3 minutes and 45 seconds long; the others were taken on accident when I was trying to take a picture )

On internal memory I'm only using 792MB and have 32 apps; half of which I could easily delete. I've had this phone for a little over a year.

So which model do you currently have, how much is on it, and how much memory do you have left?

Thanks in advance!

16GB iPhone 4

16GB Black iPhone 4

How much space?:
Capacity: 13.76 GB
Available: 3.2 GB

What's on it? (according to iTunes)
Audio: 3.9 GB (500 songs, MP3 and iTunes Purchased AAC)
Photos: 0.31 GB (may include 1-2 videos in my Camera Roll, but not sure)
Apps: 5.2 GB (150 apps)
Books: 0.07 GB
Other: 1.21 GB (no easy way for me to tell what this "other" thing is)

So there you go. I actually regret getting the 16 GB by thinking that I wasn't going to use a lot of space. Boy, am I wrong!

64 GB White iPhone 5

How much space?
Capacity: 57.30 GB
Available:28.3 GB

What's on it? (according to iTunes)

Audio: 24.6 GB (3291 songs)
Photos: 0.31 GB
Apps: 2.5 GB (56 apps)
Other: 1.28 GB

So you've had your 16gb HTC phone for a year. You plan on using your iPhone for two years. You currently only use 3gb of the 16gb available on the HTC phone. Assuming that your data needs progress at a rate 3gb a year at the end of the two year period you will have used 6gb of the 16gb available on the iPhone. That leaves plenty of room (about 7gb) for apps more picture if you choose to be trigger happy and more songs. Why would you need more storage?
