Hello guys

I wanna buy iPad Pro 12 inch, I am a graduate student so there will be lots of notes and pdfs in my iPad. Also, I will watch like lots of YouTube. + Photos, I do not know whether should I buy 256 or 512? I have 512 gig laptop.

Best,
Bahar,

I think 256 is enough. I used my 256GB MacBook for my MBA work and it was more than enough for that and everything else I put on it. If you already have a laptop and now an IPad (assuming its macbook and you use some kind of cloud device) you should be fine with 256. Good luck!

How much space have you used on your laptop?

Agree with others. Unless you’re of the opinion that you must have as much of your libraries of files on your iPad at all times get the 256gb.

Some love having a ton of content ready to watch/listen to on their devices without the need to rely on streaming or cloud services. This totally justifies getting larger storage capacities. For others like myself, having modest storage capacity and culling down collections works out fine too, especially given the fact that accessing external USB storage is an option when on the go.

I have the base 256 (11 inch) with an iCloud sub that helps supplement any space issues I come across.
How can I use cloud for photos as you said?

Yes that is my problem, I want everything there! I don't first know how to use cloud and I have to pay monthly! why should I do that? it would be so much. I do not know. I have no idea!

With your 512 GB Laptop, how much storage do you still have available? If you have between 300-400 GB‘s available, I would suggest stick with 512. Even though you’ve used ~200 GB of space, it can eat up depending on your notes. Videos can take up a huge storage space.

Per your note, you want everything on your iPad without paying monthly. if everything you have is already on your computer and no issues, the bigger storage the better.

To get you started, there's good iCloud tutorials on Apple's support site, and lots of YouTube tutorial videos.

If you decide not to use iCloud, you will still need a way to backup your iPad. That deserves some thought. Maybe it's worth checking out iCloud. Here's a link to Apple's iCloud support site to learn more about it:

Thank you very much, yeah I just bought 200 GB, and the good thing is that I have backup! i did not have it hahah, i will buy 256.

Get the most you can afford, that being said, my current iPP is a 512GB and will likely get the same in the future

I have a 512 12.9 cause i got it cheaper than the 256 as a return. No matter how hard i try I cant get past 150 gb. I have a lot of movies and pics.
