Which SSD for Mac Pro (Crucial 128GB M4 or OCZ 120GB Vertex Plus)

It's an early 2009 quad core, and as I understand can't make any use of the 6GB SATA of the Crucial?

The Crucial is £149
The OCZ Vertex plus is £99

50% difference in price - but will I notice any difference in speed?

Having done three Mac SSD upgrades including one Crucial and one OCZ, my concern is now reliability. SSDs are not as bulletproof as hard drives. The Crucial is the only one that was has not yet given me any trouble. I had to replace the OCZ, the first one created so much data corruption that I had to restore the computer from backup on average once a day, the second OCZ seems ok however. The third drive, and I can't remember what that one was, has had a lot of crashes but they may not have been caused by the drive. Anyway, from my extremely limited experience, I'd get the Crucial out of fear that the price does in fact reflect quality.

In a Mac Pro, when it works an SSD definitely improves the performance, it's hard to go back to all the whirring and delays.

You probably will not feel or see any difference between them except maybe benchmarks. But I agree with poster above, the Crucial is more stable but may need TRIM enabled for optimum use over time.
