I followed one of the thousand guides on youtube for getting into your phone with a desktop SSH app, and it worked fine. Of course the guide had me install 3 apps onto my phone...open SSH, automatic SSH, and toggle SSH. Open SSH I've seen in many videos, but the other two didn't seem as familiar.

Question is, do you really need ALL of these apps to SSH into the phone?? Can I do without one or more of them, or is there an all-in-one solution out there?

BTW this is for a 3GS on OS 3.0 if that matters.

Thanks!

I've only ever jailbroken my 2nd gen iPod touch, it's jailbroken right now in fact and I happen to be SSH'ing as I write this, and I've only ever had OpenSSH installed on the device, none of those other ones you've mentioned, and it's worked flawlessly.

Automatic ssh just reconnects the ssh session if it disconnects. Not a problem for most people. Ssh toggle turns off ssh access for security purposes. Just change your login password and you don't need to worry.
