Time for new phone Monday now I’ve asked this before but still can’t decide.
So currently on a 12 pro it’s been fantastic, but battery is starting to reduce in capacity now.
my options are
Iphone 14 pro £85 a month ($107)
Good as new IPhone 13 Pro Max £77 a month ($94)
Good as new 13 pro £68 ($83)
According to my Carrier EE in the UK good as new phones are upgrades that have been handed back as not wanted or changed mind during the 14 day cooling off period. And are still like new in original boxes.

I get NHS discount of 20% on the above prices.

some bloke on a sky sport commercial was happy with their apple 14!
even when a wanker soaked him by driving through a puddle on white heart lane!

the 14 has an incredible or better camera than the 13, and the top island seem like a nice feature as well!

Those phones are extremely expensive if they are 24 month deals. Have you tried going on fonehouse, uSwitch or similar to get a cheaper deal?

I’d personally pick the 14 for the camera and dynamic island thingy.

14 Pro. The others will start to look old when the 15 lineup is nothing but dynamic island. Plus you may not get a sim card tray next year, so get it while you can!

maybe go with 13 pro. All depends on what cost you are ok with really. 14 pro is the best iphone but depends on if it’s worth it cost wise

As you're an NHS person, I thank you for everything you do for us. However, if you're the guy who shoved a camera down my throat on Monday and wiggled it around for about 20 minutes making me retch, then boo to you! :D

I would say stick with the 12 Pro and get the battery replaced. What's the battery percentage at?

Have you had a Max model before? The weight difference and size are a bit much. I've had them for years but my next one will be a normal Pro. I've got the 14 Pro Max and while it's superb, it's still pretty much the same as an iPhone 12, but with better cameras.

There is also one other option - replacing the battery on your 12 Pro.

The 14 pro is a great iphone for domestic US use, but it has only one electronic sim.
If you are traveling outside the US on a regular basis, you need the 13 Pro Max with its dual electronic + physical sim unless you like carrying 2 phones.

Well phone is my only Luxury thing as its replaced my camera and I’m constantly listening to music on my days off. I currently pay £74 a month which is expensive but affordable.
So anything from £88 minus 20% is fine.

Nah not me. Orthopaedic Trauma is my ward 😆
I’d like to try a bigger phone hence the 13 pro max. I’d happily have a bigger phone. Only reason I didn’t get a 12 pro max is due to it not fitting in motorbike jacket.
Use my Car more now so size matters not.

Also I always change phones every two years. Sell it and use the money towards yearly Greece holiday spends.

UK based so we still have physical SIM cards on our 14 models.

24 months x £85 = £2,040 for a iPhone 14 Pro ?!

To buy outright (128GB) in the UK £1,099 + cheapest SIM only deal you can get with EE ?
Edit: Missed that you’re getting a 20% discount on the contract prices. Still think that SIM only is generally the best way to go.

Still need 125gb of data so cheapest sim is £31 a month minus 20% would be £69 per month including phone at £45 a month.

Well part of the cost is for the airtime. The actual cost of the phone is much less.

Technically US Models does have 2 esims built in for the 14 pro and 14 pro max. I currently have 2 carriers and both are on esim on 1 iphone 14 pro max.

I read it could do up to 6 esims

Get the battery replaced and use it a couple of more years. That's what I did with my 11 Pro. Software is fine. I'm a little tight on storage but I still need to go through my pics and delete junky ones.

Unless you need one of the newer features.

How much data do you need each month? Are you looking for a 24-month plan? Would you consider a SIM-only contract and buy the phone outright? How much storage do you need on the phone?

Reason for the questions is that it'll give us a chance to go hunting for the best SIM-only and SIM+phone contracts for you.

Since the iPhone 4S I've always bought my phone outright and had a SIM-only plan. I'm grandfathered into a Three UK SIM-only deal for £20/month that gives me unlimited data, texts and calls each month, plus 12GB of data abroad each month with no charges. New Three UK deals are similar but you have to pay £2 in Europe per day, and £5 in the US.

Apple don't have the 13 Pro models on their refurb site yet, so I can't give you a price for a refurb. However, Amazon have the iPhone 13 Pro Max "Renewed" for £859.95 for 128GB, £908.45 for 256GB, £949.99 for 512GB, and £999.99 for 1TB.

I doubt there would be an NHS discount on an outright phone purchase and I think your discount applies only to the airtime part of any SIM+phone contract you've listed earlier, right? So your phone might cost £50/month and airtime £15/month, so you'd pay £50+£12 = £62/month, right?

I’ve definitely considered Sim only and buying from Apple monthly. I use on Average 50gb a month on 4G. But use 100gb when in Greece.
limited to EE as it’s the only network that seems to give me consistent signal where I live. O2 were useless as were VodafonE.

The discount takes 20% off your basket total, so £85 Phone Contract would be £68 which is what I’m paying now on my 12 pro.

A sim only say £28 sim only would be £22.40.
Roaming abroad is £10 and you can use your data then cancel it.
Currently have Apple Music as an Additional benefit as part of plan.

As you've said, EE currently have a Good As New iPhone 13 Pro Max with 256GB of storage with 125GB data plan for £50 upfront, then £74/month for 24 months (£1,826 total). Or you can have the extra plan which gives you Apple One for £5 extra/month and an Inclusive Extra item (I assume you would pick the Roam Abroad Pass saving £10/month), for £82/month (£2,138). Take your discount off those prices.

Since you've kind of decided on sticking with EE (I agree, Vodafone and O2 are crap, both in coverage and customer service), the best deal for a Good As New phone seems to be the ones there. There are other plans, which might suit better, just have a look. I tend to go full-on in-depth with the cost so I know I'm not picking a deal which is gonna cost more money. For example, there's a plan with Apple One and the Roam Abroad Pass included, with unlimited data and no max data speeds, so might be worth whacking together a spreadsheet?

If you're going to look at a Good As New 13 Pro Max, have a look at the difference in price for the 14 Pro Max as well, as it might be just a couple 100 quid more over two years.

Oh, and EE do Trade-In so you could save £12/month too.
