Which top cases for the 13 inch MBA are compatible with the 2012 Model?

I need to replace my keyboard. If I put a top case for the newer (or older) MBAs in my 2012 model, would it work?

I already tried and messed up on that, it's a long story, so I just want to replace the top case alltogether.

After doing some more research, my impression is that the only difference between the 2012 and 2013/14/15 top cases for the MBA is the holes in the microphone. (I don't know about the 2010 and 2011 models)

Assuming I'm right:
If I put a 2013+ top case in my 2012 MBA and kept my original microphone, would it affect my input volume? If so, would putting a 2013+ microphone in my MBA work?

The 2010 and 2011 cases aren't going to work for you at all because those use the original MagSafe connector, whereas the 2012 and up models use MagSafe 2.

Go for the 2012 model to be sure.
