So I loved my MacBook air 2017 and I just sold it because after 5 years it became too slow. Now I would like to upgrade. Biggest problem is my budget, I can't spend a lot now. Most important features is 512GB if not more (but prob can't afford).
Now I found the 13 inch screen annoying and small coming from windows but I find the 15 inch to be too expensive. I want the screen to be clear (then I don't mind the 13 inch) and a big pro would be USB A ports but that's prob hard to find? Maybe one of the older models are still worth it?
What do you suggest? Which one of the older models is still worth it to buy now in 2024?

You didn’t say what you’ll use the Mac for, but I’m guessing anything M1 or newer that fits your budget will be fine. Not going to find one with a USB-A port though. Apple stopped including them a long time ago.

yea the USB part is annoying...I use it for surfing (lots of tabs open), I store lots of movies so storage is something I need. For the rest, just a smooth working laptop I want. No major heavy stuff...

If I can find 1TB for around 1500 dollars that would be great! (if you know where to search?)
I'm from Belgium but since its expensive here, I don't mind to look in USA...

Yeah, M1 or newer should be fine. Maybe check the Apple refurbished store. Could also consider getting an external drive if you can’t find a Mac with the storage you need within your budget.

with the fact that it only has two USB ports...that's very little, I'd rather have it all in the comp...
how good are their refurbished ones?

I see one for 200 dollars less, question is, should I take a chance on a refurbished one, never tried this before...

How about this:
M1 MBAir 1TB $189

I've bought refurbished stuff before, and I see no reason to worry about it. If anything, it's been double-checked and might be even more solid, in a way…

BTW, I get that you don't want to have external drives hanging and using the ports; but you should have a form of backup. Just get the cheapest 1TB USB-C drive you can find, and plug it in now and then, and let Timemachine do its thing, to be safe.

If the refurbished actually comes from Apple, then there should be no problem. I am typing this on an iMac I bought from Apple's refurbished store, and when I got it there was no difference between it and a "new" computer, save for the box.

Thnx for the link! When I went onto refurnished store I could choose azerty French keyboard. here I actually cannot, its prob qwerty...which is a bit annoying for me.
