hi guys, as the title i'm looking for video card which can support multi monitors under Mojave with full acceleration, 3 or more monitors, but seems no video card can do that except gtx680 (this card can connect to 4 monitors at same time on all mac osx including mojave) , but very slow power when meet heavy resolution, anyone who did try to connect 3 or more monitors on Mojave with other cards please? it should be amd card, cause we know nvidia has no webdriver yet under mojave, (it doesn't matter with or without boot screen), many thanks you all. Daniel

Sapphire Radeon Pulse RX580 will support up to 4 displays all running at 4k60Hz. I don’t have 4 displays to test this but have connected 3x4k displays and can confirm that it works. Note that boot screens are NOT possible with this card.

I can confirm RX-580 DELL OEM outputs to 3 monitors at least as well

yes i've tried almost every model of 3Go video card, no matte original ones or flashed, no one can do, infact it's not the problem of card, its the systeme doesn't allow these cards, so need to find experienced model

did you try rx580 yourself at home? can you put some picture about combination of cables?
if you did try yet, where did you find this solution please?
thank you again

The RX580 has two HDMI 2.0 and two DisplayPort 1.4. I used two Display Port cables and one HDMI cable and all 3 displays worked at 4k60Hz in Mojave. The 4k at 60Hz over the HDMI cable was the impressive thing for me because my previous nvidia GTX970 with HDMI 2.0 ports would not work at 60Hz in High Sierra but would work at 60Hz in Windows 10. I no longer have all 3 displays in possession to upload a photo of all 3 running simultaneously. Maybe user startergo can upload a photo. I wouldn't stress about this too much though, it's a pretty straight forward installation and doesn't require any fancy cabling.

My GTX 650 does 4 displays in mojave, I guess I’m not sure that it really slows down ... which if your 680 does the 650 should even worse, I’ve not felt / noted any slowdown. I guess it’s probably dependent upon what you are doing on the displays and what resolutions you’re running.

I’d suspect that ANY card that has 3 or more display ports can run as many displays as they have ports. This would mean needing *active* display port adapters or native display port monitors.

If the old AMD/ATI 5770 can do 3 displays I’m sure a modern AMD card that does have Metal support would have no issues with 3 or more displays in mojave as long as it physically has the ports available.

thank you luda for your message, i think in this way, if we have gtx 680 worked why we go back to 650? it can't be better than 680 doesn't it?
the original card or activated port are not the problem, we can have them worked under Mojave with each video ports, the problem is you can't connect with 3 monitor or more at the same time, it shows only two monitors until unplug one and another one will light up automatically, that why the list of 3 monitors supported card from sub-vendors' website won't help, and there is no answer or solution from apple forum neither.

Mine is a 4x HDMI port card from Zotac flashed with a customized EFI rom for boot screen support. Zotac advertised it as being 4 display capable. Perhaps the 680 you have was designed in such a way that it can only do 2 displays? Or you have flashed an EFI rom that isn’t really compatible. I’ve heard that people often lose ports on their card if not flashed with the correct rom.

thank you luda, i think you may not understand my question: all 680 or nvidia cards support 4 monitors, my questions is which card can do that under mojave except 680, but thanks for your help.

Asking "supports 3 displays" is meaningless, without specifying resolution.

You also didn't mention what computer you are using. Are you talking about an external enclosure?

FWIW, iMac Pro monitor support without any external processor is:

  • Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display at 1 billion colors and:
  • Two 5120‑by‑2880 (5K) external displays at 60Hz with support for 1 billion colors, or
  • Four 3840-by-2160 (4K UHD) external displays at 60Hz with support for 1 billion colors, or
  • Four 4096‑by‑2304 (4K) external displays at 60Hz with support for millions of colors

Only two officially approved NVIDIA GPUs without separate drivers for Mojave:
  • NVIDIA Quadro K5000 for Mac
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 Mac Edition

thank you, but i did not ask for a nvidia card, i asked amd card, cause all nvidia card cant work under mojave except 680
i repeat, i know 680 and other nvidia can do more than 3 monitors under high sierra, i know too 680 can have 4 monitors under mojave, i need a amd card can do 3 or 4 monitors under mojave. thank you for your attention

My RX580 did three displays at once. One 1080 and two at 1440. It’ll do it

thank you for your help, i've already ordered two of them to test, they are on the way to post to me, will keep informed the resultes, but one question: doesn't have difference between 4g and 8g version?

I have seen just a few reports of the RX580 4GB version being compatible under macOS. I don't recall there being a very big difference cost wise though, I would recommend getting the 8GB version no matter what if you want a RX580. Just looked on amazon and the cost difference is negligible in my opinion. $200 for 4GB or $220 for 8GB

There was a time a month or two ago when the 8GB was actually cheaper than the 4GB... it's the same physical size and power draw and do not see any advantage in the 4GB model for that price difference.

I have a Radeon HD7950 and have run 3 screens off it no problem one DP, one DVI and one HDMI, so I don't see why the newer ones wouldn't do it

can you tell which subvendor and which model (serial?) of your card please? and can you show your screen with 3 monitors and the connection of your cable back of your mac please ? thank you so much

Just buy an ultra widescreen monitor instead.

it's kind of study, if use widescreen, it will be the same with using usb monitor hub, you will have one card accelerated for all your monitors, this is not what we are looking for, but thanks a lot

With my Vega 56 (from my Mac Pro) on my Hackintosh: 4 screens

No. Not at all. A USB monitor hub would be orders of magnitude slower than monitors connected to a video card.

A widescreen just arranges the pixels in a different shape.

The load on the card is an aggregate based on the total number of pixels and color depth summed across all monitors connected. Again, monitor count itself is largely meaningless. Four 1ks or one 4K are roughly the same difference. This is why the resolution matters, and it's meaningless to just count monitors.

3rd screen is just a 720p/1080i TV as it's all I have about at the moment, and I just use it for Final Cut viewing of in progress edits, planning on getting something 4k soon, and probably an rx580, but here's your requested images. I can't tell you a whole lot about the exact card other than it's reference design, it came to me without the full cooler shroud on it, just the heatsink as it'd been used for mining and had a different rom on it, now has an XFX cooler, rear outputs as you'll be able to see are 2xminiDP, HDMI and dual link DVI

thank you bazza for your photos, i think the most useful infor is the vbios version, i gonna try to find this, but it doesn't mean we can copy your method connect 3 monitors, i've just received my 580 8go, and it is indeed working with 4 monitors, thank you for your help, should be useful too for others
