Which video card?

So I'm having some Constant issues right now with my MacPro. When left over night, I can not wake up the screen of my computer the next morning. At first I thought it may have crashed, but I can still access both my video and music media library's and stream it. However if I were to connect via logme in, I just get a black screen too.

So I went thru the paces to test the hardware and memory, nothing has come back. I'm assuming it's a video card issues that doesnt want to appear on the tests??

Nonetheless since purchasing it in 2009 I have only installed an SSD. So I think it's time to upgrade to 16gb RAM and the video card.

What video card to choose for cheap? I do not want to dump $300-400

I have a lead on a 560TI Msi card for $100. Would this work?

Any help is appreciated!

What's your current video card and other specs of your MP? Folks around here could probably provide better advice if they know what you do mostly with the machine.

I do some coding and tend to use it for my main home media center to serve up across the house. Really it's been able todo everything I've needed up to this point.

As soon as 10.8.3 ships (any day now) grab an AMD 7950. They are MacPro power friendly (many standard with 2x6pin for power), 3GB of ram, rock solid drivers and under $300. Was an upgrade from a 6870 that greatly cut the amount of time CPU waits for the GPU to complete it's function.

This may be a driver issue for OS X 10.8 as mentioned here instead of your video card. The GT 120 is a reliable although underpowered GPU. You could install the NVIDIA web driver for 10.8.2 as mentioned in the Apple Support Communities discussion link and see if it works before getting a new video card.
