Which way around should the leather loop go?

Hi all,

I just got a Black leather loop to go with my Silver Sports (love the combo) and have been playing around with the loop a lot as I wear the watch on my right hand with the crown reversed.

Which way around it the leather loop supposed to go? Is it with the smaller part on the outside (little finger side) and the longer part on the inside (thumb side)?

I realise it may be a matter of taste but just wondering what the default/best is?

Short side should go on the top of the watch I believe (that's how it's shown in all the pictures Apple have of it)

I guess I also asked because the hole that you loop the band through is kind of on the corner/underneath my wrist and I wondered if it was supposed to be there, as when typing on a desktop my wrist is resting on it and I don't want to damage it!

I think the short side of every band goes on top.
