I'm trying to decide on which of these games to get. I cant afford both atm but I want to play one

My question is does crysis have a good multiplayer and does ut3 have a good campaing?

the system i have is a

2.4 quad core
8800gt 512mb
4gig 800mhz ram

thanks for your input!

Crysis is pretty pointless unless you just want to stare at pretty graphics. As a game it really has nothing going for it. Of course, I feel the same about UT3 as well, unless you're really into multiplayer.

Honestly, if you're interested in a good pack of single-player games, just pick up The Orange Box. Great single-player games in HL2 and its episodic sequels in Portal, great multi-player in Team Fortress 2.

see i really enjoyed halo2 for both campaign and multiplayer

is there a game that is as addiciting as halo2 but well not halo2? the thing i liked about halo2 was all the mp options you could play

i am also looking for a forza substitute to get my racing fix lol

any and all suggestions are nice

I prefer Crysis, but you can download demos for both,

Call Of Duty 4 has a bunch of MP options and maps along with a great single player. Counter-Strike: Source (strictly MP) can be pretty damn addictive and it has tons of mods and maps.

halo 2 was classic. I really enjoyed the whole halo series' campaign and half life 2 (with the episodes) is just as good, also, TF2 is really fun multiplayer, although, not as fun as halo's or CoD4's

is orange box a must have? ive never played half life before. my fps extent has been goldeneye, turok 64, and halo2

would most of you reccomend orange box over crysis or ut3? they all cost the same ($50) so does halo2 but i dont want to pay 50 for a game i have played kinda alot since 2004 lol

Well Orange Box is indeed a pretty nice package, especially if you haven't played any Half-Life 2 games and they're pretty awesome so yeah that would be my recommendation.

Out of UT3 and Crysis though, I'd have to say Crysis, the gameplay is actually pretty good and fun, people like to dismiss Crysis as an "all looks no play" game but it really surprised me in terms of gameplay. Unreal Tournament 3 is also good but overall I don't think it matches up to the Orange Box and Crysis.

do you like the mp in crysis? is it pretty extensive?

i like mp as it keeps the game interesting for a lot longer after beating single player but i like single player alot too lol

Definitely UT3. Its all about gameplay, with a bonus of awesome graphics.

Must have, especially if you like previous UT titles.

i just installed the demo of crysis on my family PC and it doesn't look too bad. it's a bit hard (i ran out of ammo really quickly), but it is reasonably fun. don't believe the bullcrap requirements; it runs on a 3 year old athlon 64 with 1gb of ram and a radeon 9600

>My question is does crysis have a good multiplayer and does ut3 have a good campaing?<

I haven't played Crysis yet, but have UT3.

The irony is - UT3 feels so "different" than UT2004, that I've been playing more UT2004 than anything else lately. I think it's because there aren't the mods yet for UT3, and so much of the UT franchise's popularity is based on the different mods that are available.

I understand that - when UT3 for the PS3 hits, mods are supposed to be cross-platform, which gives me a lot of hope.

Another person mentioned Call of Duty 4.... COD4 has solid team play and is all in all a great game to boot. Your hardware should be able to handle it just fine.

If you haven't tried Bioshock yet, you might consider it, too.

Check out the demos of both as mentioned above and let us know which one you prefer.

Well, I have played UT3 at a friends place, but that was a multiplayer only demo, whereas crysis was a single player only demo. I like crysis more, because i kinda like the story, apart from the fact the i keep dying on easy mode from being overwhelmed by koreans (it's a little racist, but what shooter isn't these days?). UT3 is not as frantic this time round and there is one vehicle that if you get in it, you basically win. Overall, i surprisingly prefer crysis. Still, get the orange box too

I like Crysis, and with your setup, you should be able to run it nicely. I think it's very fun. I have the full version of Crysis, and have recently downloaded the UT3 demo. UT3 seems to be just Quake 3 + Vehicles, so I reckon it might get boring. I don't know what the campaign is, but it's obvious that the game is predominantly multiplayer, and that is a turnoff for me.

I think the Crysis multiplayer is really good, Power Struggle is fun. But I don't play it, because Internet in Australia BLOWS!!! (I don't even get ADSL 2 where I live! Stuck with ADSL 1!)

Finally, my computer runs UT3 very well, but I'm not that impressed by the graphics. If you have an 8800, I would go for Crysis simply because not playing Crysis on it would be a waste. Then again, I play Starcraft on my 8600M GT...

One question, is that a Mac Pro?

You sure about that? Halo 2 on the PC is just ugh... you need to cope with that horrible Windows Live thing and you need a Gold subscription to get all the features not to mention the horrible console interface, the horrible graphics and the steep requirements...

But I guess it's up to each person, if you are a Halo nut then I guess you might learn to look past the hindrances of Halo on the PC (to be honest, I don't think the actual gameplay is that good either but alas, I won't thread in THAT territory)

lol yea i did get it. i dont mind the graphics its all about the gameplay for me. since i no longer have access to an xbox i figured i couldnt go wrong with it as i did enjoy it for the console

Well, Halo 2 runs like crap on my SR MBP. I don't know how the people who ported it to PC managed to kill the performance so badly, considering the graphics aren't even good...

And I'll say it... I didn't even like it all that much. Crysis is WAY better.
Graphics, gameplay, story, etc.

Since when do Aliens speak English? And since when were the good guys limited to one super-suit?
At least Marathon gives some indication of why you're the only super-powerful guy in the universe... (Well one of like 10, but whatever)

Since when have tanks and cars been indestructible? And since when do bullets go straight through armour and hit the driver?

Well, at least neither game features a laser gun that shoots "bolts" Star Wars style... They are called Laser BEAMS for a reason! (What were you thinking George!!!)
