Hi,

I have a 13inch Macbook Pro from early 2011

It has a 2.3Ghz i5 and 16GB of RAM

When I boot up the machine, sometimes the Apple logo, while it's loading, shows messed up, don't really know how to explain it, so here's a few photos:

At first I thought maybe it had something to do with the hard drive, since it was a mechanical one

I upgraded to an SSD, but it still happens

It's important to notice that this is the only place that I see something like this, after it's done booting up, I never had any issues

Never saw any artifacts either (I have even played a little bit of League of Legends on this machine)

I have already tried reseating the memory modules but it made no difference

Has anyone seen something like this before? I didn't even know how to look it up

Thanks in advance!

[doublepost=1567280549][/doublepost]I have seen the same thing happen on Hackintoshes, with AMD Radeon cards. You say it only distorts during boot, well the screen goes through several resolutions, during boot, so there may be a hardware issue that only shows during boot. I would not worry about it.

If it ONLY shows that during bootup
and
If everything works OK AFTER the bootup is done
then
I'd just keep using it. Back it up, of course.

It's getting older. So long as it works fine once "up and running" ... don't worry about small glitches at boot time.

Thanks
I keep using it everyday, and it has been working great so far
It was just odd that it would display like that when it boots up, thought I might ask

Thanks for the replies!

MAYBE GPU failing? The 2011s, if I recall correctly, had GPU issues.

My 2008 finally had a GPU failure, but acted normal until failed.

Might want to try reinstalling OS, might clear out what glitch there might be there with extensions. Don't have to wipe the drive as a reinstall will keep your stuff in place and just overwrite OS specific stuff.
