Hi all,

I'm waiting on a guy to get a new macbook before he can sell me his white 20" 2.0Ghz C2d iMac, but I can't seem to locate when these were released. There is a listing for them in all of the memory choosers, such as on Crucial, but so far I can't find any more info about them.

I've been told that it is a year old, ie September 2006 and it has a 1Gb block of RAM which would tally with all the rest. Can anyone tell me if they actually have one and where is the release info, such as on the Buyer's Guide. It doesn't appear to be specifically listed, but maybe just a 'low profile' release

Thank you

Damo

Thanks for the quick reply, Leon, but alas, I still have not found the magic ingredient I'm looking for.

There is the late 2006 release of Core2Duo, which includes either a 17-inch 1.83Ghz <17-inch MA590LL> or else 17" 2.0Ghz <MA590LL> but the 20" is 2.16Ghz

Earlier in the year, there was the 20-inch iMac (MA200LL) which was a CoreDuo, with a single 512Mb RAM

I couldn't find any tech spec on the pdf link.

So as things stand, I'm still in limbo land.

Thanks again

Hi Leon,

The kernel of the problem is that, I too, am unaware of any such spec, but it is implied, if not exactly specific, that it does exist. With the seller out of contact for the weekend, I can't clarify with him until Tuesday. It may be a case of a simple mistake on his part as to the spec he quoted to me, but still, it also appears that this 'phantom iMac' does exist according to Crucial.

If the attached list is broken down, as follows...

1) 17" 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo <MA590LL> Late 2006 White

2) 20" 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo <???????> Late 2006 as suggested by "C2D & 1Gb RAM" http://www.crucial.com/eu/store/listparts.aspx?model=iMac%202.0GHz%20Intel%20Core%202%20Duo%20%2820-inch%29

3) 20" 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo <MA876LL> Current Mid 2007 Alu model

4) 20" 2.0Ghz Core Duo <MA200LL> Early 2006 White

5) 20" 2.16Ghz Core 2 Duo <MA589LL> Late 2006 White

So, one can wonder, what exact model and build is the one linked above at the Crucial site? Who'll crack the case? Columbo? Ghostbusters? :p

Hi Damo,

Got me stumped. I concur that the Crucial link suggests a late '06 model.
Notice that it lists maximum memory as 3GB -- exactly like my MA589LL.

There might well be an iMac that matches your description -- here's one
example of a phantom that doesn't show up on any Apple spec sheet:

http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MA759LL...3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1194195479&sr=1-1

However, it does show up on the list of Leopard-compatible models --
along with the mysterious MB199LL/A. Could that be your phantom?

...who knows what evil lurks in the minds of Cupertino,
