The fundamental designs of the cases differ in a number of areas.

The most obvious issue is the depth difference of the bezels. The side of the aluminum bezel is significantly narrower then that of the white model. This will at the very least create issues with accessibility of the DVD slot.

The case attachment methods are not interchangeable.

The aluminum model front bezel attaches with screws around the screen parameter under the screens glass cover which is held on with magnets. The iSight camera and mic are mounted to the rear shell.

The white model front bezel is latched/interlocks at the top to the rear cover and is attached to the bottom of the frame on either side of the memory slots with screws. The iSight camera and mice are mounted in the front bezel.

These are the basic differences. There are no doubt others measurement specific differences that would create significant issues.

But, if you want to customize it (and are not concerned about a warranty), you could always take the plastic case apart, and rough sand it and smooth it, and then hit the shell with a nice base coat and then a nice coat of metallic paint of your choice. Then, clear coat, and let dry.

If you're not into that much custom work, then I'd just forget it. Any attempt to use the aluminum case would only require more alteration and skill than. It could be done, but you'd have to spend some time custom fabricating filler pieces and such.
