White I-Mac memory question

Computer has 2x512 memory sticks. Can I add one 2gb stick since the CPU sees only 3.3gb total? I realize I'm losing dual channel capabilities.

I had a 2GB and a 1GB in mine and it worked fine. Use the memory selector at crucial.com to see if your particular model (which you didn't state) allows it.
