White iMac Late 2006 17" 1.66ghz Core Duo

I had some bad Mac Mini Logic boards so I was testing the CPU's to make sure they still worked.

I came across a 1.66ghz Mini, I poped that into the white iMac and she reported for duty. I know you can upgrade to faster cpu's but it is interesting that you can run a slower cpu. I guess you could even run a 1.5 solo if you wanted too.

If it uses the same socket, its pretty much guaranteed to work, so if the 1.5 solo has the same socket, then itll work easy.

It is such a nice design. I really wish they had not moved to glued/soldered cpu connections. They have basically crippled the boards upgrade ability.
