okay, so here is the situation, this in no means a thread for me flaming or anything, just a thread that i need some user input.

iPhone3GS purchase on release date

iPhone3GS count is 1

iPhone3GS - horrible battery, exchanged for a new one

iPhone3gs count is 2

iPhone3GS - horrible battery still, dropping calls, Rogers wireless issues, but honestly phone wasn't living up to its name! exchanged for another one

iPhone3GS count is 3

iPhone3GS - went to a baseball game, kid you not, phone was in pocket, NO pressure, it was a hot day outside, heard a "ballon like pop", screen had cracked - screen got replaced under warranty

iPhone3GS count is 3

iPhone3GS - just looked at my iPhone3GS closely and noticed some fine hairline cracks near the silent on/off switch, nothing major but still cracks in the device. mind you the device has never been dropped, it does have usual wear and tear on the back.

iPhone3GS count is ??? will it be 4 if i do decide to go to the apple store and get it replaced?? i feel bad going in all the time hahaha, the kid(genius) is always the same, amazing customer serivce, knows me by my first name hahahaha....

what do you guys think?

sorry about your bad experiences. Make sure you got AppleCare.

I haven't had any issues with my 3GS so far. My first generation iPhone never had any issues either. However, I had a number of issues with my iPhone 3G -replaced twice. Both replacements were due to poor build quality - lots of dust under screen from new and cracks from new.

I will certainly be adding Apple Care to my 3GS now that it's available in Canada before my warranty expires.

ummm
what would the main reason be for apple care??
its still covered under its 1yr no??

the cracks are natural occurring since i have never dropped it, unless dropping it on my bed counts?

Depends, how hard is your bed :)

All kidding aside, I don't think any device should be cracking if it's being used properly and hasn't been abused. I'd see if you can get it exchanged again if you're not happy. I know my iPhone 3G had the minor crack from new around the silent mode switch. I thought I could live with it and I did for a period of time. Issue was the crack kept growing and became more of an issue to me. Eventually I had it replaced without issue.

think its $79 for us cdns!!!
but do you think if i went to the store they would replace it, even with my series of bad luck! i love the device hahaha!!!

then i could purchase the apple care as well at the same time!

JVB - thats what i am thinking of doing. waiting it out, seeing if the crack grows, if it does then go out and get it replaced!

I know in my case the rest of the iPhone was flawless at least to my eyes. I was afraid of exchanging it for another one and having greater issues.

Black iPhone 3gs here.... after 6 days replaced my 1st one for dust under the screen. 2nd one now has crack at headphone port, dock port and dust under the screen. I am waiting to return this one until 3.1 jailbreak is public just in case...... no way I can go back to non-jb iPhone.

okay
so now my iPhon3GS has small hairline black lines that seem to be cracks in the case near the on/off switch for the ringer!!! now what?? and there is another small line/crack near the dock/cable connector!!

do i try my luck and hit up the apple store? and get the warranty on the new device at the same time?

I would honestly just suck it up. it's just a hairline crack on the plastic. if it was on the screen I could understand. but it doesn't inhibit the use of your phone so it's something you will just have to deal with

trying to make a point here man?
i posted this on 2 forums, wanted to get user feedback
crime??

No its not a crime. Its just that your getting and are going to get the same answers in both places. Lots of us visit both forums. I just found it odd. No need to get so uptight.

why not go get it replaced? its covered under warranty, it's an obvious flaw/issue with the phone. why is this such a difficult decision? are you worried that they'll get mad because you've been in so many times?
