Just seen at least in both Uk and USA store that the macbook white have both 5 -7 days waiting period? Seems a little weird as a few days in the uk at least the wait was only 24hrs or 2 days?

What could this mean, updating something on them like the plastic being used?

Not really sure, it might just mean they ran out of stock

Only thing is the blackbook waiting period has remained the same at 2 days?

So thats what lead me to think they might be changing something on the white macbook/

Nope, got mine 3 days ago, and it was there in 3 days.
And it's fabulous. No moo, no problems. Just simply fantastic. And I did not even put more memory in yet, and it's perfectly snappy surfing and mailing.

After all the whining I read here I was so afraid, but mine's perfect.

i dont mean how long it takes for it to get here, i was just stating how on the website it has changed to this, where under the price it says Ready to ship:

Appleinsider are saying its due to very large educational buying orders.

how nice of you to classify those of us with problems as "whiners" just because you got lucky.

My guess is they just ran out of stock of the white macbooks because I think they've been using the different plastic for a while now.

I ordered my white macbook on July 3 - at this time the site still had a 2-day estimated shipping time. The MB has not shipped yet and Apple emailed me stating that the computer was not expected to ship until July 14. The email stated that they are waiving the shipping charges, but there weren't any shipping charges to begin with! They are also upgrading the shipping to 2-3 days.

Anyone else have a similar experience? Also, if I call Apple to complain, would they give me anything else - like an additional discount?

Worth a try, and it can't hurt to ask. I think I remember reading a thread where some people called to cancel their order and were offered a discount.

If you told them you "think you want to cancel the order", I believe they sometimes give you a little discount if you keep the order. Don't quote me on that though. Worth a try I guess.

Well preeble, first, His Stveness will come to your house and do the exact dance he used to do in lilstewart's avatar. Then, he'll tell you stories about iGary's Fracking™ problems with apple.
No, hoestly, ITASOR is probably right. wmmk has just set a new record for mentioning MR members in a single post. w00t!

yeah I noticed the delayed shipping day couple of days ago. new semester will be begun coming August. so many schools have started macbook orders. that's why it's 5-7 days.

Macbook

The macbooks are delayed and after speaking with customer service this morning, it looks like they are delayed 7 days.

I ordered mine on the eighth and it's expected to come in the 24th. This is my first mac. I've been using Sony's and IBM's for use, which are higher quality than the average windows machine, and they would get their machines out overnight, with FedEx shipping.

Atleast I got customer service to give me a $65 rebate. I tried to get them to cancel my order so I could go by one in my local apple store (there are like a billion here in the NYC area), but since the ipod I got engraved for my girlfriend had shipped, no deal.

I expect OS X to be a nice change, and I hear the components and build quality are higher quality than the average windows machine (though not as high as a Vaio or Thinkpad, and not as high as my custom built desktop). It was also reasonable priced, I have to say.

However, the customer service, manufacturing, and shipping is amatuer hour.

In part, it can be explained by the fact that the MacBook is extremely popular and Apple is probably working hard to meet the demand.

Has anyone had their MB shipped yet that they purchased recently? I bought mine on the online store on July 3 and it is still not shipped. What's going on???
