anyone who would kill macos and replace it with windows 10 EFI only on their 5,1 machines for better performance for video editing and encoding and use nvidia rtx series?

I am thinking about just get rid of MacOS on my 5,1 since it seems that Apple may not support nvidia rtx series for Mojave nor Nvidia will release a driver for its RTX series on macos high sierra.

I’ve been running exactly this since 2016 with a GTX 1080. Works beautifully for the most part, albeit with a few rare exceptions.

What is stopping you from using both Windows and OSX? Switch whichever you prefer. I don't get it what is the "kill" part meaning?

windows 10 installed in efi mode will corrupt the cMP's bootrom by writing secureboot certificates to it in the wrong place. If you happen to install a firmware update (however you do that), that may brick you mac then. See the Mac Pro Bootrom thread for more information about this.

According to Alex: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/mp5-1-bootrom-thread-140-0-0-0-0.2132317/page-98#post-26811224
it should happen in a specific scenario (the one above). I have not time yet to test this particular scenario, but I have upgraded to 089, 138 and 140 skipping 087, while using Windows in EFI. Never got corruption. I had a corruption using Clover improperly, but nothing related to Windows. Anyway, I will keep testing it and if I get a corruption I will let everybody know. Don't get me wrong I am not recommending anyone using Windows in EFI unless they know what they are doing, but if somebody needs both OSX and Windows EFi the safest way is with a MATT card. Hope there will be a better solution provided by Alex if he has time to finish his project.
