So who here that owns a Macbook or Macbook Pro has a dead pixel? I've gone through 4 Macbook's (I have another thread which chronicles my experience) and now a 15" Macbook Pro. Out of the 4 Macbook's, 3 of them had screen defects. Of the 3, 2 of them developed stuck pixels. By developed I mean they weren't there when I first used the machine but developed later on.

My firs Black Macbook (Core Duo) developed one near the bottom where the dock is. The 2nd stuck pixel was near the middle right hand side, a glaring stuck on red.

I eventually exchanged that Macbook for this 15" Macbook pro. At first there were no dead pixels. After 1 week or so, I now have a stuck red pixel on the left hand side by the bezel (thank goodness it is out of the way).

Anyways just wanted to see what your experiences are on this.

pixel? I got your stuck pixel...

I had a stuck pixel once, but a shot of penicillin cleared that sucker right up...

Seriously, if you're only talking about 1 pixel, I think many people won't even notice. You've had to deal with them on multiple occasions, so your pixel radar is probably much higher. I read a quote about pixel problems and it said something like more than 8 in 10 LCD screens would have at least one. Most manufacturers won't take any action unless there are more than a certain number and/or they are clustered in a small area.

Be interesting to see how many people are bugged by this. Stuck pixel survey might be kinda cool. 5 categories:

-never had one
-1or2
-3to5
-More than 5
-What's a pixel

Actually that's what I was hoping to do :) Some sort of poll here but I can't seem to find a way to add it.

Also I'll admit I'm picky and not your average consumer :)

I have 1 stuck pixel on my refurb 20" iMac C2D. I don't care though, cuz it's my baby and I love it no matter it's imperfections. :D If I did have a cluster though, I think I would have to get it replaced, only because I know it would drive me nuts and I would think of nothing else.

No dead pixels on my new macbook. I did notice some flicker on the display when it was not fully lighted but it disappeared again. Hopefully it won't return.

My Macbbok that I bought new about 6 1/2 months ago had 1 dead pixal out of the box. It's in the lower right side, on the top edge of the dock area. I don't have a problem with it. I can't even see it when I'm more then 3 feet from the screen, which is my normal viewing distance. I decided from the start on not returning it since the macbook didn't have any other issues then the 1 pixal. I figured with all the early complaints, I got off lucky with just 1 dead pixal.

My MBP has three or four dead pixels, but as long as I don't really concentrate on them, I don't mind too much.

There are no dead or stuck ones (that I can see, had a pretty close look at it) on my 15" MBP's screen. My ACD has about 6 stuck ones (a cluster of 4-5 at the bottom right and one higher up on the right). None are visible in normal use or from my normal viewing distance and the display's otherwise flawless, so I haven't bothered doing anything about it - would probably be classed as "in spec" anyway.

Hi,
no dead/stuck pixels on my new 15" C2D MBP. My other macs (now sold on), a 17" iMac G5 pixel perfect, but my 12" iBook had one stuck pixel near the centre - only noticeable when watching DVDs.

Yep, my 8 month old MB has a few dead pixels. I'm not sure when they showed up, but now I notice them every day

Actually it's not a big deal. I've had a few repairs on this MB and a few pixels out is the least of my worries.

I have two iBooks, one has a stuck red pixel near the center of the screen, the other has none. I plan on buying a new MacBook Pro soon and I hope it doesn't have any, although if it has one or two near the edges I wouldn't mind.

I have a dead pixel on my PowerBook's display. It's in the lower lefthand corner, and I only notice it when the desktop is white or if I look for it. I first noticed it about 4 months ago. Otherwise the screen is fine.

Good news! I was cleaning my screen earlier (just lightly with a microfiber clothe to get the dust off) and I noticed my stuck pixel start flashing. I took the clothe an rubbed it a bit and it unstuck! :D

Hopefully it stays that :)

I have one stuck green pixel in the upper-left hand corner of my MacBook C2D. I was unable to massage it out and it is very annoying.
