This is not a Apple bashing thread. However I need a laptop that is well optimized and equipped for CAD work. Something with a Quaddro card in it to be more specific.

To do this I need to make the jump back to a Windows device....

When I'm at work it is no big deal, I know when I get home I will be back in the Apple ecosystem which means something to me as I have multiple devices and the integration is nice.

Has anyone been in this situation due to their workflow constraints? I'm assuming if your still on these boards you have a MBP.

Any insight is appreciated. Perhaps pick up a baseline 13" MBP for personal use and a Dell Precision or Lenova Thinkpad for the CAD beast?

Thanks.

Are you sure that your CAD software works only with a Quadro series card?

I used to use MacBook Pro 13 Early 2015, but leater on I set up a desktop mainly for gaming and modeling (almost on Matlab, sometimes I also write other code).
At department, I use MacBook to write code and some simple model. When I go home, and if I want to continue the work. I will upload all the files to dropbox (which needs additional download when I get home). I am not familiar with CAD, above are my conditions.

I swap between windows and macOS every day and honestly if your just doing work on the windows computer you probably won’t notice much of a difference. I think the windows vs MacOS stuff gets blown out of proportion, the only reason I enjoy Mac vs PC is the Unix underbody of MacOS. I think Dell makes pretty good laptops for the price so that’s where I’d put my money.

I do the same but mostly because I like my strategy games and don't like waiting. There's so many small nice things that make macOS hard to give up. That and I don't really trust Windows for either security or stability. But your mileage may vary.
