iCloud can be a total PITA and has a host of buffering issues for bigger sized files. I can't wait to get rid of iCloud with a 512GB phone. The optimization can also be really annoying if your phone is full. You take a photo and a day later, sometimes hours, it's already in the cloud and off your phone. Then you to have to re-download it to view it in full clarity, edit it, or share it.IMHO big memory sizes will increasingly become less attractive, due to iCloud and other cloud services. You only have to take into account that image sizes will significantly increase, especially once the new Apple ProRAW format comes out. If you take many pictures, then go for the 512 version, otherwise 256 should be ok. I recently have set up my X new from scratch, with only the essential apps - and it works like a charm. So having 100s of apps is a waste anyway...
I have a hard time imagine what iCloud data would take up that much space, that you would need 512GB not to have it. And never have important information on you phone, which is not either synced or backed up.For someone that is privacy focused and doesn't want to deal with iCloud, and doesn't plan to upgrade every year, that's who the 512 is for.
Trying to anticipate the need for 512 GB. What are or were your reasons for getting 512 GB?
I'm currently using 180 GB. iPhone is also telling me I could offload unused apps and save 30 GB.
Likely 512 GB, They droped the price because last year the 11 Pro max was $1449. With this year 12 Pro max is $1399. It's only $50 difference but still cheaper than last year's model.
I’m not even considering the 512 option as they’ve slighted us with the extra charge... so it’s 999, 1099, 1299 for Pro, and 1099, 1199, and 1399 for the Pro Max. It’s like yes I believe that kind of hard drive is more expensive but couldn’t you have just charged me $1199 or $1299 respectively? Has it always been this way? I’ve only just recently been interested in iPhones beyond base storage as now the photos and videos are going to be taking up way more space.
So on principle... I’ll stick with 256gb and burden myself with offloading onto my external hard drives every so often.
