Who has switched from Android to iOS and then back?

I'm a galaxy s4 user right now. At first I was really into tweaking and modding my phone and tablet, I have a 2012 Nexus 7. However I just came back from a semester abroad where I couldn't use my phone and I find now that I'm back, my home page is just all of my most used apps. I like the look of iOS 7 and I'm thinking of giving an iPhone 5 a try. So, all you users who have done the same but then switched back, what were your reasons? Or, if you have switched from android to iOS and stayed, again, what are your reasons?



I'm pretty sure I'll stick with android for tablets because I can't justify a $400 mini when the new nexus 7 is only $230.

I know I can't base others' decisions to make my own, everyone has their own needs, I'm just curious as to what your guys' input is!

I went from an S3 to an iPhone 5s, which lasted about 2 months before I bought the Nexus 5. I really missed the larger screen. I also liked being able to set my phone up as I wanted it. I loved which apps I could but on my homepage and what I could keep in the App drawer. Also, no matter what some people say, widgets are awesome. Being able to see information like weather, your calendar, scores, tweets, etc. without going into an app is great. I just preferred Android for setting my own defaults and having more flexibility in settings.

As for the iPhone, I loved the camera, especially slo mo. I also liked the quick settings by sliding up. It came in handy many times, especially the flashlight. I just couldn't get used to the small screen and the restricting OS. Hope that helps a little at least.

Used and loved iOS for five years starting in mid-2008 with a first gen iPod touch and then a hand me down first gen iPhone. Did the whole jailbreaking stuff when iOS was still untapped. Very fresh and exciting. Got an iPhone 4 on launch day and loved it until I sold it three months ago.

Started using Android two years ago concurrently with iOS and Windows Phone. Hated Android at first. Then I got used to it. Now I cant see myself going back to a very restricted OS that now deals with nano-sims and proprietary accessories. Apple seems to change up more of the sim sizes than the screen sizes!

Plus, I love SwiftKey on a bigger screen phone. Faster and more accurate. And trust me, I thought the default keyboard on iOS was the best for years on a touchscreen after they let us disable the predictive text by iOS3. Now I cant see myself going back to it. Android is nowhere close to being perfect and isnt catered for everyone. It has its share of issues for everyone. But I dont see myself switching in the foreseeable future.

I just love MovieTube + TubeMate. Got a clear download of one of my top 5 fav movies yesterday - Pulp Fiction. More enjoyable to watch HD movies on a bigger screen phone.

Erm, kind of I guess. I had an S4, returned it for an iPhone 4S, then went back to an S4 SIM-free.

I think I'd go back to iPhone simply because it's easier to hold in one hand, the aluminium body, and I hear that the 5S has decent sound quality which is awesome because I use my smartphone for music a lot and the S4 is terrible.

I wouldn't switch back for the OS though. Android takes some tweaking, but once set up to how you want it, it's damn near perfect.

I've switched several times from iOS to Android and then back to iOS within days. This time around I've been on Android for nearly a month and don't think I can go back to iOS.

I love having different phone options, the tweaking, larger screen size, non-propitiatory accessories.

I switch from iOS to Android and back to iOS probably once a year, lol. Some of the same things keep pushing me back to iOS, even though I keep hoping they will change. A shiny new Android device comes out and I buy it, then realize I was more productive on my iphone and you can only play so many games before you have to get back to work.

I went from Android to IOS. Upgrade time, I may go back to Android.
The reasons I may switch back to Android, restrictions, and "you just can't" on IOS.
And syncing IOS to a Windows PC can be somewhat cumbersome at times.

Had a half dozen android phones, switched to iPhone with the 4S then 5, switched back to android for the GS4, and was back to iOS 3 months later with the 5S.

I literally have been switching back and forth between iOS and Android (S4) a few times a week. I think that in the end I'm becomng more of an Android fan than iOS fan. The iPhone screen just drives me bonkers. I hate that tiny screen and inability to have widgets. But I miss my iOS apps that aren't on Android.

If the next iPhone screen is atleast 4.3 inches and Apple relaxes their grip on default apps, I will buy it.

Otherwise my next upgrade is going to be a moto x 2 or an oppo cm handset from my current gs4.

i have had every iphone except for the latest IP5. I have had too many Android phones to list here...but so far this year Moto X, HTC One, Droid Ultra, Note 3 and currently my personal fav the S4. Now...if Apple releases a 4.7 to 5 inch iphone in Q1 next year I will be back..... or my next phone will be the Samsung Galaxy S5....

I did the the opposite. Switched from iOS to Android and then back to iOS.

I had a 4G iPod touch, and that thing was great until iOS 6 when it started to become really slow, so I opted for a Nexus 4 and ditched my old feature phone as well. Don't get me wrong, it's a great phone, but Android is just not for me: had to repurchase apps, too much tweaking to get it just right, no iMessage/iCloud/iTunes, etc. Therefore, I decided to get an iPhone 5 and it was the best decision I made. While iOS 7 is sometimes annoying, it has nearly everything I need (jailbreak would be great in the near future) and I don't see the need to go to Android.

I, too, use both platforms daily. I switch between the Nexus 5 and the iPhone 5C.

If my opinion means anything here, I have to say the iPhone experience pales greatly in comparison to the Android experience both software-wise and hardware-wise. When you use both devices side by side on a daily basis, it's remarkable to see how lacking the iPhone feels. Everything is just a bit more difficult to accomplish on the iPhone. Writing an email or message on the iPhone with the outdated, sometimes unresponsive keyboard, and the smaller screen, for example, can be very frustrating. This is all the more so after typing on the Nexus 5 (particularly after gesture-typing).

Another example? When charging my devices. The Nexus 5 I plunk down on my wireless charger and I'm set. The iPhone 5C requires me plugging in the Lightning cable. Is it difficult to? Of course not. But one way is certainly faster and more convenient than the other. Also, because my Nexus 5 is always on the wireless charger when not in use, the batteries are constantly being topped off, so to speak. I never worry about its battery life because of this.

My first smart phone was the iPhone 3GS. I kept if for almost the 2 year contract. I got so bored that I took out a second contract 2 months early for a HTC Desire HD. I kept it for almost 2 years before wanting iOS again. I got the iPhone 4 myself no contract. Then got bored again and got the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini on contract. Didn't like it. Got the big S3. Didn't like it as it was bigger version of the mini. Sold and bought the iPhone 5. Cheap good contract still running. Cheaper than any iP5 contract.

Tablets are a similar story. Samsung, nexus, iPad mini then iPad Air. Kindle in between.

Hankering for a nexus 7 again. Slowly learning its good to have both my life.

I had the absolutely superb Galaxy Note II at the start of 2013 and then bought the iPhone 5 because Android really isn't for me. I plan on keeping the iPhone 5 until next Summer and then addressing the situation. I want an iPhone at Galaxy Note size... so if the next iPhone announcement doesn't produce something big (literally), then I will have a decision to make.

Though, my contract is up in January and I can't decide what to do. Should I upgrade to the 5S - despite it being no different, cosmetically - or get the SIM-only plan? The wife bought the black 5S yesterday and it is very nice but the "clickyness" of the Home button annoys me.
