I have always waited a few weeks to a month on updates. IOS 5 for some reason looks like a disaster right now. So the question is, who else is holding off for now?

I am. Upgrading seems to be a complete mess. I'm keeping track of this forum to see what other bugs/annoyances people point out.

I'm perfectly content with my jailbroken 4.3.

That's because you are only reading the horror stories as those who upgraded without a hitch are busy testing out the new features! I'd hold off until later tonight or early tomorrow. The only "disaster" right now is that the servers are slow and that's causing some iOS devices to fail when the update tries to verify with Apple's iTunes servers. Wait until users stop slamming the servers and everything will go as planned.

PS: Make sure your back up is actually recent. Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices to see if it really backed-up the files. Some aren't backing up the files fully and it's causing them to lose precious files/videos/photos.

I am!

As a veteran of all of the upgrades so far, I have always waited until the weekend after the release date. Most bugs are resolved by then, and the volume drops off tremendously. :D

I'm waiting to hear more about how other iPad 1 users find it before I upgrade. I learned my lesson with Lion :s

I know some have turned out fine, but for my luck I will get a problem. Right now I will play the waiting game.

Also there is more problems than just the server issues.

Pulling the Plug

Well, after 4 hours in the 'backup' phase, I'm pulling the plug on this beast. I'll try again when I've got an entire day to waste.

Side Note: I like how "Canceling Backup" is taking freakin' forever... I'm hating me some iTune right about now.

Waiting...

until I can hook computer up to home WiFi, only have a 3G stick out here in the woods. Waiting seems to be a good idea since Apple's servers are tied up with a bunch of people upgrading. Want to upgrade all my apps and computer first, then backup everything before attempting ios5.

I'm hoping to hear more feedback from iPad 1 folks also. I know that multitouch gestures and itunes lyrics are gone and I don't have any other iOS5 capable devices so I'd like to hear more about the cool stuff that I'd be able to use before I take the plunge.

I'm holding off as well. Figure I'll let the Apple servers cool down a bit, plus, my big rig is XP and I've read that 10.5 requires Win7. Have that OS on my rather inadequate netbook, but that process is probably best left for the weekend.

Like others, I'll first make a backup before doing any update. And have an adult beverage handy!

I installed 10.5 on my XP machine today.

They've added more multitouch gestures; they didn't take any away. You have different swipes to switch between open apps, and one to open the multitask bar, and pinch with four or five fingers to get to the home screen from any app.

Sadly, lyrics do appear to be gone, which kinda bums me out. I have no idea why they'd do that.

I need to wait until I can preserve my baseband, my 3GS is on 6.15.00 bb....apparently updating without pwnage tool makes bad things happen.

It seems to be running fine so far on my iPad.
