Lol...2 GB RAM has to be the most requested feature ever in the history of MacRumors. At least with the Apple Watch there is some time to go before that becomes an issue.

Lol...2 GB RAM has to be the most requested feature ever in the history of MacRumors. At least with the Apple Watch there is some time to go before that becomes an issue.
I will personally will be holding out for apple iClock... the pocket watch edition. With a 24K gold chain and optional necklace attachment for when I go clubbin'
I won't buy the next Mac Pro unless it has a quantum processor in it.
Naw screw that! It comes base line with 12gigs of ram 6 times more then it should! What a deal!
That gets me to thinking... The next iPhone better have 12 gigs of ram otherwise I'm not buying it

However there is every chance, based upon past performance that in XX years time Apple will let their watch lag in technology behind the competition that will continual to improve and use the very latest technology has to offer, whilst Apple denies you need such things, eventually having to give in, and bring their watch up to date.

Not that likely. The much heralded Moto 360 and Galaxy Gear S are running smartphone technology from 2007. Apple is likely ahead of the game as they can custom design a chip, and have shown from their phone efforts that they are pretty good at it. My guess is that future versions will focus on improving battery life rather than boosting performance, given that there is only so much you can do with the limited screen space.

Yeah like the competition has anything close to the S1 in their smartwatches. You might say Apple is lagging, but we all know Apple doesn't add technology to devices just for the sake of it, just to fill up some spec sheet for tech nerds.
Btw, I'm curious what "very latest technology" the competition has that iPhone 6/6Plus is missing.
Also add that Apple can't offer partially proven technologies because of scale. If LG does this and there are problems it may only be a 100,000 units. It Apple does this and there are problems it could be 50,000,000 units.
A 5.7" screen and 6 extra cores that don't add any performance but drain the battery more quickly. #
You know what I mean.
Look as we are often reminded here, where the competition was when the 1st iPhone was announced.
Then wind forward a few years, and see how Apple was lagging, and not catching up. they have only in the past weeks caught up on screen size, screen rez is now higher elsewhere, as are software features that Apple is looking we think at adding into iOS.
I'm only speaking generally, but where we are today may be very different in a few years time, and why I smile when people are talking about Apple not refreshing the watch much or keeping it for many many years.
Apple's problem is quantity which means they lack the ability to offer some things they could do if they were smaller.
We can argue to pro's and con's forever.
Just reminding people not to get too smug about TODAY,
Screen resolution is higher elsewhere, bigger screens elsewhere, more RAM elsewhere, more cores, faster clock speeds.. yep all of that stuff. But of course none of it is important (on its own) when it comes to determining whether a phone (or any other technology) is any good.
As an analogy, an F1 car (2014) has a 1.6 litre V6 engine. the 2015 Mustang has a 5.0litre V8. Which do you think is the more advanced technology?
